So I took my first round of abx yesterday and thought I was going to die. Literally. Within an hour, my heart rate was up and all of my symptoms were raging. I was so dizzy I had to crawl to get my son in his pajamas. The back of my head felt like it was being shaken. Needless to say, I didn't take the second dose before bed. I called my doc today and left a message, and am still waiting for a call back, but am not taking anymore until I hear from her! I guess it could have been a massive herx, but I'm also feeling like the dosage is just too high for me right now. If I cut back will this impede my healing process? Body weight and metabolism must be playing a role here. Perhaps that same dosage on a person who weighed much more might have been tolerable. I suppose this is all part of the healing process. I'm still taking my GSE which makes me herx every time, so I guess that's good enough until the office calls back. But it's Friday and now they are closed.

On another note, it's just been a really rough week. I finally broke down and sought child care for my son a few days a week. Since I'm not driving he's been house-bound with me,and that's just not fair to him. I interviewed a woman today and when I asked her if she'd be taking him to the park I just cried in front of her. I should be the one taking him to the park, and it is literally breaking my heart. When I stopped driving 6 months ago because of the vertigo, he was still so little that I used to take him to the park in a front-carrying baby carrier. Since we moved in with my parents, he is now walking. I am mourning for the time lost, like many of you. I do think it will get better, but I never thought it would be this hard.

Binduspire, I myself just posted a similar post earlier today. I spent a year looking for a doctor who could prescribe the antibiotics and now that I started taking them I feel so bad that I don't know how I am going to continue taking them. I started taking them only at night and wake up with this huge headache. The headache starts at the back of the neck and is so debilitating. It has worsen my dizziness and vertigo as well.

You don't say which type of antibiotics you are taking. I am on Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin.

The folks who responded to my post have suggested detoxing. I am going to try that and see if it lessens the effects of the medicine.

As for the time spent, you are blessed in that you are now being treated. There are many people who suffer like us and have no idea why they feel so bad.

Lets think positive so that one day when we are cured and the Lyme is but a memory we can appreciate and live each and every day to the fullest.

Healing98- I think I responded to your earlier post. lol! I feel like you..so relieved to have finally found a doctor and medicine, but wondering how I can take them and still be functional.

I am also on Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin. I feel a bit embarrassed that I didn't read the package inserts before taking these. One of the serious adverse side effects of the Clarithromycin is rapid, pounding heart. I already have cardiac issues with the Lyme, but this was different. It lasted 3 hours. Not normal! I am definitely going to have a talk with my doc.about that.

I think detox might help with the headache. There are so many great detox ideas on this forum,and so many different ways to use them- I just bought a dry skin brush to use, and have some epsom salts ready for foot baths.

Thank you for the reminder- you are so right. I will be thinking positive and looking forward to those days of living life to the fullest.

Hello newbies!!

I'm so sorry to hear the news. I do want to tell you that personally, for me, 90% of my herxes involved heart stuff. It sucked. Increased heart rate and palpitations. I was put on ceftin and that gave me palpitations, so did Houttuyunia (herb) so did clarithromycin. Fortunately it did all clear up. I had to stop the Houttuyunia b/c it was by far the strongest. I did go to a cardiologist who listened to my heart and said it was fine. It doesn't have so much to do with the irregular heart beats as the regular intervals in timing of the heart beat that is associated with the adverse side affect. That is what heart dr said anyway. I also had to cut my dose to half of the original prescribed and work up to full dose. Many on here have to do that.
