I could really use some insight about embarrassing underarm sweating that has worsened since starting abx...
For over 10 years I've had an issue with excessive sweating. I do not have night sweats; these are primarily asymmetrical underarm day sweats that have typically occurred in the afternoon but that NOW (after starting abx) start in the morning (with or without exertion; mostly with light exertion) and can last all day. In the morning, my face gets sweaty too -- sometimes more than a "glow," if you will, and I think I scare my coworkers when they see me in the elevator first thing. :) I laugh, but it's quite embarrassing.
After sweating all day, I then get chills and a stiff neck around late afternoon and feel like I must have a fever...and then it's like my sweating "shift" (9-5! ha!) has ended and I don't sweat AT ALL in the evening or while sleeping. I'm not convinced that this is babesia, even though we typically associate babesia with sweating.
One potentially important piece of info: I have dysautonomia, a disregulation of the autonomic nervous system, and it can cause sweating if my blood pressure is low...however, I'm taking medicine to raise my blood pressure, so my blood pressure should be normal. But...my cortisol and adrenaline levels may still be high, so maybe my chemistry is still out of whack despite the blood pressure regulation. Incidentally, my doctor said that many lyme patients have dysautonomia, and my herxes typically include some flare-up of the dysautonomia, such as light-headedness/low blood pressure first thing in the morning, and lately, I've had extra salivation when I talk.
I'm on my 4th month of abx treatment and am three weeks into a babesia/lyme pulsing protocol that includes mepron, artemisinin, omnicef, septra, coartem (during an "off week"), and flagyl once a month. Taking lots of supplements too, and am detoxing; have been off of caffeine and alcohol since beginning treatment and am eating healthy. If it's useful information, my herxes on this new protocol include hot burning pain on the soles of my feet and in my lower back. I also have a fever on and off and brain fog and memory issues persist but seem to be a little better.
Bottom line: it's still early on in treatment, and it would be so good to know whether this is a helpful herx-type sweating that will pass or if this is something different/new. My doctor's office seems to chalk it up to herxing. Any thoughts?
So sorry for the long post. Thank you so very much for your help!!
P.S. Was positive for IgG p41 Ab, IgM p39 Ab, and IgM p23 Ab when tested. Was not tested separately for coinfections.
