Which antibiotic?

I believe I have neurological lyme and cannot see a LLMD until January.. I have access to antibiotics and am on my 4th day of doxycycline 100mg twice a day.. Is this sufficient? I have noticed slight changes but want to make sure this is the best antibiotic until I see the LLMD. I have access to other antibiotics, what is the best for neurological lyme?

I would say for both of you if you are waiting for an LLMD appointment as long as you are stable - stay what you are on. I hated the wait for the LLMD it was horrible.

In general, minocycline, ceftin, and biaxin (clarithromycin) are the best traditional antibiotics for neurolyme. There are also a lot of herbs that can help as well. I like japanese knotweed the best for neuro issues. Hopefully others will chime in here shortly on their experiences.

For me, ceftin was a lifesaver.

Hi I was treated recently for lyme with stiff neck and nuero involvement, doxy 100 mg @ 2x's per day.
28 days was the number of days but you will need beyond that.

Hi Chiro I noticed the difference immediately. The total number of days was 28 but then needed another round. I was going to try amox bc the doxy was tough for me to tolerate. But it is very effective in treating symptoms.

I have heard 200-400 mgs a day dosage can be utilized. Just beware because you body has a reaction to the die off of toxic bacteria in your body and you start to feel very under the weather.

I felt generally ill and dizzy at times. You dont have much motivation to go out. I kind of laid around watching tv and resting. I think it varies a lot for each person but basically it feels like being under the weather. There are some side effects to the doxy so read about those as well. I hope it is smooth sailing for you.
