Hi Everyone,

Last week I read that the filaments that protrude from the skin lesions in morgellons has been identified as borrelia burgdoferi. It was cited in a reputable open access publication. This has been excessively denied in the past and many patients are told that they are delusional. Good news for all those suffering, it will probably a long time before doctors will validate it, but at least they know.

In case any one wants to look at the article. I cannot personally attest to the journals legitimacy as I have not heard of it but the article looks good and most readers in here will recognize at least one of the authors.

Well, it does say that it's an 'opinion article'! wink LOL!

The article is definitely at least thought provoking and validating for those that deal with this form of whatever.

From that abstract, from pretty much the center of it:
"This view is challenged by recent published scientific data put forward between 2011-2013 identifying the filaments found in MD as keratin and collagen based and furthermore associated with spirochetal infection. The novel model of the dermopathy put forward by those authors is further described and, in particular, presented as a dermal manifestation of the multi-system disease complex borreliosis otherwise called Lyme disease."

I'm sure that there is much more detail presented in the full article, which is below the abstract. Or you can follow their references to read the actual articles where they got their information.

Well, in the article it states: "No parasites or mycobacterium were detected. Finally materials harvested were cotton or silicon." Although this is in the abstract, so there is a lot more information in the rest of the article.

Hi All,

So sorry to not follow-up I had a family emergency and just getting computer access back.  Thanks opugirl for putting up the link.

I'll be sure to back things up with links, my comprehension may not be great I do have neurocognitive issues. I should probably add that to my signature profile!

No worries, Anna! We all understand that it's not easy to remember much of anything some days!

I just like links! LOL! Being a skeptic means I have to see it for myself - even if I can't understand it, if I feel like it's important enough I take the time to look things up or ask for help from my Biologist daughter - cheating, I know!! LOL!!!
