I agree with opugirl. If you want to start something now, read Buhner's website for starters. He has books as well, they are referenced in the "Bookstore" draw down.
His bartonella protocol has really helped me. Our daughter has been treated for lyme/bartonella by an LLMD, but it was pricey. I have been treating myself using Buhner's herbs and feel so much better.
He says, if you can only do one thing, use Japanese knotweed. I can vouch for that - it is a wonderful anti-inflammatory. His premise is that the bacteria are parasitic and that they cause inflammation to produce tissue distruction which releases nutrients the bacteria require to survive. If you can reduce inflammation, you reduce the available nutrients and weaken the bacteria to a point where the immune system can take care of them.
I would give this a go before I started using unprescribed abx.
In the mean time, while waiting for your appointment, use the time to get up an running on lyme and the coinfections. Buhner's books on lyme, and bartonella / mycoplasma are very informative.
