Hello all,
I have been on antibiotics for over two months now and am slowly but surely starting to feel better. A few symptoms have been persistent but the most scary IMO is my unusual loss of memory. I know this is a symptom of lyme but am starting to get nervous that I will never get my memory fully back. Does anyone have any insight to this? Is it just in my head or what?

A lot of my memories are slowly starting to come back. Childhood memories, things that I didn't know I had lost....its sad because I know I lost them for years! I completely understand your fear but I had this for years and didn't realize how bad it was until I started treatment and my memories are slowly returning. I imagine that yours well as well, with treatment.

Lovely effect of the disease but fairly common I think. I have always heard the memory is the last to return and if you have a lapse in treatment you can lose it again. If you do not see signs of it steadily improving would def communicate this to your dr so they can adjust your treatment...maybe increase dosage etc.

I too lost my memory, although it was obvious as I had no working memory at all for a bit longer than a year if my estimations are correct (it could have been longer though). I lost my short term memory as well as my long term memory - but, as Opugirl said about her situation, my memories are coming back! I still haven't recovered all of them yet, but almost!

Treatment and time will do wonders for your memory!

I'm glad you are all starting to gain your memory back! It's one of the things that have bothered me the most considering I am going to school and my grades have seriously been affected. Thanks for all the replies.
