Did you find the tick when you got bit or not?

I am trying to see what the circumstances were for people as I navigate my own situation.

Did you find the tick that bit you, or just have symptoms afterwards?

Do you think it is likely someone could miss a tick on them even if they did thorough tick checks every day?

As far as I remember I never found one attached, just crawling.

I never knew I was bit and don't know when it started to affect me. It might have been close to 30 years ago when I was very ill.

I know it's hard to believe that something could be on/in your body without you knowing it, but it's absolutely possible. Even for "neurotic clean freaks" (my husband's words) like me.

I found the tick, yes. It was embedded in my head. I have very thick hair, shampooed daily, but somehow missed it. For how long I don't know. This was last July. I wasn't treated appropriately (too low a dose of doxy, for too short a time period) and how here I am over a year later, my world turned upside down.

I see from your posts that you're doubting whether you actually have Lyme. I completely understand how hard it is to believe. But my thoughts are: better safe than sorry.

Please understand that ticks are far from the only insect that can pass along these diseases. Basically, any insect that can bite and survive to bite again has the potential to pass these infections along. So mosquitoes, biting flies, horse flies, deer flies, bed bugs, mites, chiggers, fleas, sand fleas, sand flies, spiders, and of course ticks. They can be as small as the period at the end of this sentence.

Also, Bartonella can be picked up by a cat scratch if that cat has Bartonella, as well as by ticks and the other insects that I mention above.

These diseases are so prevalent any more that all those bugs have to do it bite someone or something that has those diseases, then next bite you, or me, and the infection can be transferred.
