joy, I feel your pain. I myself have severe burning on my chest wall and at times up my back. in the past it has been so unbearable i have cried lying in bed. I tried gabapentin which is neuron tin and it did not help much, went as far as 600 mg daily, I was informed by a neurologist you can go up to as high as 3200 mg. wow.
I also was taking vicodin prn pain, which helped some but did not make it go away totally. the vicodin would relieve my terrible headaches, and help me get enough relief I could go out sometimes, but would still feel horrible. I tried taking xanax some too as needed which would not relieve it just make me go to sleep. of course that would stop it.
I noticed some relieve altho it is not gone yet by taking ibuprofen, taking epsom salt baths, and pulling the toxins out of my body by taking charcoal and chorella. It has decreased in severity.
I found I could not tolerated methy B 12 or b vitamins right now, they would make me anxious and I had to lay off of them for now.
I found out I had hashimonto's thyroidi*** by having my thyroid enzymes checked, getting armour thyroid which has raised my energy levels where I can do light housework now. I also have found I am better on a gluten free and low sugar diet. It is recommended armor is slowly started and increased over by 30 mg or 1/2 a grain every two weeks until you get relief on a symptomatic level. I have been informed it will take 6 months to 1 year to feel better while trying to get your thyroid problems corrected I took synthyroid for 7 years with no relief of symptoms. apparently I was not getting enough T 3, 4, 1, 2, and calcitonin. which is what you need to have a healthy thyroid.
everybody check your teeth, I have 3 abcesses and osteomyletis in my lower right jaw which is making me sick and immunosupressing me. also be aware of funguses. I had fungal pneumonia and a blood clot in 2008 and I was treated for 3 months only. I have got to find out if that is not a problem now. because I am having shortness of breath and mild wheezing.
