Hi. I'm new to this support group. I've been sick from a bug bite I got 2 years ago. I developed three rashes and was extremely sick, bedridden and now have what feels like chronic lyme. I've. Had all the chronological symptoms and have tested neg on all standard labs. If I take the basic IGeneX lyme test 2 years later can lyme show up? I'm on pain meds and can't get around without them. No one will treat me as I live in Texas. Thank you. It's been very lonely

Welcome to the Lyme community Meadow. Yes, Lyme and other infections can show up years later. My husband tested positive for Lyme and he may have been infected over 30 years ago. There are others on the forum who can say the same thing. I am sorry you are feeling lonely. There aren't any LLMD's close to you? You can also try some other methods to help with healing. Have you checked out the 'New to Lyme' thread at the beginning of the forum. There is info. that may help you. Write anytime for support or if you have any questions. There are a lot of people on board who are quite knowledgeable about Lyme and may be able to help you.

When our daughter was first tested (age 9) she showed a low reaction (IND) for IgG kDa 39 and ++ for kDa 41. 39 is lyme specific, and because there was a reaction, although small, the LLMD said that lyme was involved.

Our LLMD thinks she was born with congenital lyme because of the physical symptoms/sensitivities she has had from birth - so for a long time.

As our daughter's immune system is strengthening with treatment, more lyme-specific bands are returning on her lyme tests.

The Igenex test that did come back significantly positive was for one of the co-infections - bartonella.

When you test for lyme, you should also test for coinfections. Don't assume all of your symptoms are lyme-based.

Please do read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread that sits at the top of the forum! It's packed full of important information and will likely answer many questions for you.

As for the testing, usually the longer these infections are untreated, the less likely a person is to test positive on the blood tests that are currently available.
