Hi Everyone,

I was wondering how did most people's lyme start and how long did it take to diagnose?

On July 4th I got stuck in the woods it was a sanded path but there were trees on both sides of me I was with a bunch of friends not sure if something could've bitten me seems unlikely as I checked myself numerous times when I got back to the house for ticks but maybe. Anyways since the end of July I haven't been feeling well. It started with severe chest pain so bad that I thought I was having a heart attack and saw a cardiologist. Since then some of the symptoms I've been having is muscle twitching, a little joint pain in my knees, fingers, feet, and tingling in feet and hands and I am always tired. I'm use to hearing people say they started off with a flu type feeling but I never got a flu type feeling never had nausea, fever body aches etc. this started off strictly with bad chest pain. I'm going to be honest I have medcaid I do not have money to go to a llmd but would like a list of any in the NJ area Philly. It has been 3 months since I haven't felt good and the more I get scared and think I have lyme the worse I feel I think I could have a bit of anxiety but I want to be safe. I had an elisa and western blot done both negative but I've heard how inaccurate these tests can be. I dont wan't to end up not being able to walk etc and all the other horrible things I've seen people go through I'm terrified im only 21 and im in college. Could this be lupus? or something else? Any advice would be great!!! My primary thinks this is all anxiety but I disagree and I'm sure nobody is going to prescribe me antibiotics with no rash or no positive tests.

Sorry to hear wht you're going through. Best case senario, get another test done by IGeneX. Find a Dr in your area that will sign for that test, and go from there. You will also need to find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (llmd) that will treat with anti-biotics. Best to catch this as early as possible.

I emailed IGeneX and they sent me a list of dr's in my area that could sign for the test, and they also sent me a test kit, that I will take with me to have the dr sign, and then take to the local hospital to draw the blood (The dr I am having sign the script will not treat me if it's possitive, as they are a chiro., and not able to treat with med). If you can locate a llmd dr they might do the testing right in their office.

Be/stay active in your search for what you know is something inside that isn't right. I've been dealing with signs of Lyme and other strains for years, and have recently connected the dots. I know my test will confirm what I know is going on inside of me.

Hi dreamer I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well! and only 21! Well the good news is you have your youth. Send me an email okay? I know a doctor in Reading that takes medicare. And you are right about the tests, horribly inaccurate. Your symptoms and onset sound very much like lyme disease and I'm guessing with going to a cardiologist you've had some other things ruled out.

The doctors all think we have 'anxiety.' Instead what we have is a gross case of negligence going on! Check out the "New to Lyme" thread as well. Lots of good info on there.
