Barn Gurl's Big Sucky Day

It started as a lovely crisp Fall Day. My husband was off to run and errand and I was to take my son to karate.
He was being lazy and trying to make excuses to get out of it. Course being the stickler I am I made sure he went.

We set out around 9:30 for a 10:00 class. I was off and running and everything was smooth sailing for about 7 minutes or so. We took the back roads to a connection to 95. Thats where all the fun started.

I was cruising down the highway when all of the sudden smoke started pouring into my car. Luckily I spotted a small grass strip to pull the car over which was an on ramp very busy area. I made my son evacuate the car in case it was going to catch fire.

I called 911 and described the emergency. The car was smoking and a red fluid that looked like blood was dripping from the engine side. Gross. They sent a state trooper and connected me a tow.

2 Strangers pulled over to help me, both men and man was I lucky they were the friendly kind.

My son just thought this was all so exciting. I made him sit on the grass area until the state trooper arrived.
He helped me move the car further into the grass.

I finally was able to connect with my husband as we sat in the grass. And shortly thereafter a tow truck with a flatbed showed up and took us to the car dealership. Car needed a new radiator and the dealership was overcharging. I told them off too and would take it elsewhere for their price. Amazingly they dropped the price almost 400 dollars.

My son and I both have Lyme. This was just surreal but we were able to handle it okay. Havent had so much fun in ages. Im down but I aint out !!! Hang in there all. If I can survive this you too can seize the day !!

Hi healing98 I do remember you writing about the water pump. And I remember thinking how is he dealing with this. Im trying to maintain a good mental attitude now matter what.

The people that I really enjoy hanging out with seem to have this type of attitude, in the face of adversity etc. Traveler and Wryter this includes you. Healing98 youre in that group as well. I guess the most surprising thing of all is that I pulled it off. Whole thing is really not too funny but I am chuckling about it all day !

Okay Lymerunner that tops my story...haha OMG that is so crazy. Sounds like something from a tv show. My biggest fear was fire and my son would be injured. Thank God nothing like that happened with Moms angel in the car. Life def throws you some curve balls...haha.Def gets your mind off Lyme for a while.
Oh man..maybe I will stay home tomorrow. haha

Hey lymerunner we will file our stories under the heading of: "It might be time to get a new car when.."

The red dripping out of the car was transmission fluid. I thought some animal had crawled up in the engine to sleep and had been killed. At least it wasnt that.

Sorry does this disease make life more nuts or is it me ..? Upside down since it started !!

I had the great opportunity of when it rains it poors too. My car died in March in beginning of my Lyme treatment. So NO fun! Glad you told the dealer off. You go Girl!!

I dont feel good so I dont think Im being too tolerant. Still cant believe those people at the dealership. Im sick of so many people trying to extract as much money out of you as they possibly can !! Not sure if this is just me or the disease's effect on me.

opugirl you are in my positive friends with lyme club too. Is there some kind of rite of passage when you get Lyme your car suddenly dies ?? haha. Well life has been pretty boring since all this started. So at least we had some excitement besides blood tests, new medications and supplements. haha.

Had a plain old boring day today. Just a little dizzy in the head and neck pain. The usual.
