Need help with trouble breathing

Hi folks. These last few days I have been having difficulty with breathing. I can consciously take a deep breath without a problem but my normal breathing feels like I am not getting enough oxygen or that my lungs are not inflating enough. I also find myself gasping for air during the day and sometimes at night while I sleep. Enough to wake me up.

last week my oxygen level was checked and it came back at 98%. I think its Babesiosis for which I am not being treated for right now. I am currently treating Lyme and Bartonella with Amoxicillin, Clarithomycin and Bactrim.

Can you recommend something that may have worked for you?

If I go with antibiotics, has anyone ever taken Amoxicillin, Azythromycin and Bactrim together? Will this combination work better than what I am currently taking? I feel like the Clarithromycin is not doing anything.

Turmeric helped/helps me!!!! Are you taking anything for inflammation like Wobenzym N??? But I will say the Turmeric was a life saver for me! I still have Babesia because it has not been treated yet but it's no where near what it used to be.

You can buy the capsules online at an herb store or do like me...go to the grocery store and buy Turmeric lol. I would just pour it on a teaspoon put it in my mouth with some water and within an hour I was good again! Trav told me about it.

I have taken Biaxin and Bactrim (Bactrim for a short period of time) I didn't think Biaxin was doing much but I was mainly asymptomatic then but...every time I would add Houttuyunia in I would herx until after about 3 months on biaxin - no more herxing -that is when I added bactrim in which again - no herxing.

Bactrim and Biaxin combined will inhibit babesia so it should not be growing right now at least. How are your symptoms otherwise?

For me I occasionally had shortness of breaths exactly like what you are describing. It made me yawn a lot because I felt like I needed more oxygen. Nothing really helped except drinking water and sitting down. The good news is it did go away...

Is there a particular brand that has worked for you best? I did a search and found it in tea, capsules, combined with Bromelain, as well as in powder form. I also found an article that recommends that it be taken with black pepper for better absorption?

Online reviews are favorable for a Swanson brand and the price is under 10 dollars so that is good. Some go for over 40 dollars.

As for the Houttuyunia; I have it here but I am waiting for the scale to arrive. The scales that I found locally don't measure fractions of a gram so measuring a 1 1/2 gram would be difficult.

Truthfully, even the good weight scales are pretty inaccurate at that low of a weight. I have not found a good one. I did find out when I was taken a lot of herbs that 1/2 tsp equalled about 0.5 gm. Let me double check that on sunday though... I have a really good scale at work. Did you get your houttuyunia powder from 1stchineseherbs? if it is the same one the consistency/weight should be the same.

I did not buy the powder but rather the leaf from Japan. Is the powder better?

As for accuracy, it just occurred to me that I can just measure three grams and then split it in half. This Lyme brain sometimes doesn't think clearly. I think that I could make some type of pouches and put the measured amount in them so that I don't have to measure each time I make the tea.

I have the same symptom, air hunger, I’ve been told it’s sometimes called. Feels like I’m too weak to move my diaphragm, like I’ve got a belt around where my bra-strap goes, like there’s pressure on my chest and I don’t feel satisfied despite deep breathing (exhaling super completely, then inhaling as deeply as possible doesn’t do the trick). This symptom only is apparent when I’m in a flare-up. I’ve not found any other answers. The only thing that works a little is to lie on my side or stomach, rather than on my back.

From a member of a a Lyme support group learned about a fascinating treatment. It’s called, Oral System Balance. It’s something that an oral surgeon discovered accidentally over the course of treating people with TMJ-related problems. What was happening was those TMJ patients who also had various chronic illnesses (MS, Parkinson’s, etc.), were overcoming these illnesses, too. It has to do with the tongue position and it getting in the way of the breathing. Anyway, this Lyme patient is getting better from Lyme.
