Neuro Lyme affects all nerves, central nervous system as well as the peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system is comprised of the brain and spinal cord basically, so when the Lyme bacteria invade that precious space, it reeks havoc causing all kinds of issues, including seizures.
A seizure is the physical findings or changes in behavior that occur after an episode
of abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003200.htm -I put italicized those words.
So a seizure is caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain - Lyme causes nerves to misfire, sending the wrong signals (or no signals) to that destination, and when it gets bad, the misfires can reach the brain, causing seizures.
Lyme treatment will stop seizures in those that have them due to Lyme disease, once the right treatment for that person is found and all the body systems are supported properly - even the detox pathways.
I had seizures before I started a good protocol for me, and fortunately they calmed down once I stopped using abx. I just had what is known as Lyme seizures after that - like uncontrollable shivering really, really bad for long periods of time. My arms and legs would bounce around like I was trying to do it, but I would also 'shiver' myself off of anything that I was sitting/laying on. I would sleep for hours after one because they exhausted me.
Just remember, we all take a bit different path to heal. No one seems to be able to heal like someone else did, that's why it takes a really good doc to
successfully treat Lyme patients. I was the first Lyme patient my doc had, and she didn't want to ever have to tackle it again!! LOL! It's a shame because she did such a beautiful job of healing me! But it took her hours and hours of extra reading to figure it all out.
