I think you will have trouble finding a protocol with only 1-2 herbs that is effective against bartonella, although Trav did seem to have luck with just essentially houttuynia.
If you look at Buhner's mycoplasma/bartonella coinfection book, or even the bartonella protocol listed on his website, you will find he uses several different herbs that work together producing more of an effect than only one or two herbs can alone. The same with countryair's protocol.
I started with knotweed, hawthorne, milk thistle and felt good, then added houttuynia and felt better. Then added sida and felt even better, happy even. Then cryptolepis/sida/alchornia and the brain fog lifted. Whether the CSA was responsible for fixing the brain fog, or simply it's addition to the already existing protocol, IDK.
These infections are chronic and nasty. You really shouldn't expect to be fixed with a simple protocol.
I agree completely with WWJD20. It will be more expensive in the long run not to have your life back. And I am finding that the herbal protocol used for both my daughter and myself is much less expensive than abx treatment and the associated testing was for her alone. Of course we were paying out of pocket for everything because we are Canadian.
