Does anyone have pronlems w/Elevated liver enzymes

Has anyone had problems with elevated liver enzymes? I started treatment in July with Bicillin injection 2x a wk, azithromycin, and Tinidizole. I was doing great for 2 months then my liver enzymes went thru the roof. I had to stop all oral sntibiotics and they still elevated. Then I had to stop all Supplements and bicillin. The enzymes were coming down slowly and was given the ok to start Bicillin again. Sure enough, the enzymes went back up. My lyme dr wants me to comtinue with detox supplements and my family practitioner wants me to stop everything. I'm torn. I need suggestions how to make my liver happy again. I've been off meds for almost a month and am getting depressed. How long does it take for liver enzymes to calm down? Am i being too impatient?

Well, that is a common thing to happen when you are on antibiotics #1. They get processed through the liver and it taxes the liver.

Have you talked with your dr about liver support? I was working with an herbalist and she put me on milk thistle. My liver enzymes remained steady through treatment. There is also tea in regular grocery stores that has lemon, dandelion root and some others that are very good - I think they even say liver detox. Some folks have reactions to milk thistle so you have to be careful with that though it is rare and I only know of 2 people that have had a reaction.

As far as treatment, most antibiotics are metabolised through the liver but some are not - I believe ceftin is one...some have had good luck with minocycline not affecting their liver enzymes as much as doxycycline.

You can also eat raw foods and limit your meat intake, I've heard that can help but again I didn't have liver enzyme issues! You can try using the search button too and looking up what others have done!

Thanks for your advice. My lyme dr. does have me on detox supplements and wants me to increase, however, my family dr. wants me to stop them cuz she thinks it might be contributing to the elevated enzymes. I'm torn at what to do. I have not been put on milk thistle yet. I do have a very healthy diet but do like meat so I will try cutting that out for now. Have you tried vegetable juicing or coffee enemas?

Detoxing is essential, please do not stop detoxing!! This is what will keep your liver, kidneys and other organs from being over run by the toxins from the bacteria dying off. Chances are that your family doctor has never come up against this complex of an illness or bacteria before.

You don't have to cut out the meat in your diet, just be sure that you are choosing the healthy options.
