While I am grateful that the insurance is keeping up on things and alert
ing to an issue, at the same time I am flustered that I keep having issues with treatment options.
My reaction to the doxycycline prompted new LLMD to prescribe minocycline and azithromycin. I got a call from the LLMD's office, saying I needed to come in that day to get checked out, they got an alert
from the insurance, noting that my medical record was reflecting tachycardia (true) and with that they flagged the prescript
ion, deeming it too large of a risk to take, as it could cause QR Prolongation.
I went in, had an EKG for the LLMD's file, and he said it's rare to happen, so in his opinion safe, but if I wanted to, wait and get cleared by cardiologist.
I did see a cardiologist a few days prior to getting the call from the LLMD's office, and he ordered an event monitor. I'm still waiting for the event monitor - and then that will be a couple-few weeks, then going back to cardiologist in January. Soooo, that would really put a hold on treatment.
Has anyone else had this sort of issue??
Since it was worrying me, I called the insurance myself to ask more about
the flag on my prescript
ion, and they transferred me to the department that did it -- the lady there was very nice, and took the time to explain why, saying that studies show that azithromycin can cause issues in those without tachycardia, but when you start off with that issue (coupled with the record also showing my EKGs in the past show low voltage QR) it's a concern.
I don't know what to do about
things anymore
