I admit, I had to look up the definition of this to fully understand what it means.
That being said, yes I believe Lyme (and especially the coinfections like Bart which swell the brain) can cause or heighten these derealization problems. These generally improve with treatment. However, I believe derealization (which is really just disassociation if you ask me) is a huge problem in our society today even without this disease. My own dissociation was amplified when I returned from combat in the Army only to watch my mother die to a long battle with cancer. I say "battle", but her cancer didnt even give her a fighting chance in hell of living. My faith in people, the universe and a creator were permanently lost that day.
That being said, this terrible disease and the EXTREME isolation, loneliness and anxiety it creates definitely detaches you from life. Its why its important that you continue to communicate to people (on this forum and in your life) so you dont turn into a basket case.
