Update...Starting Physical Therapy for Balance Issues!

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. I got the referral I needed to get an evaluation to start physical therapy for my gait issues. As we know Lyme and friends can play mean tricks on our brain and balance. Well I did the evaluation yesterday and when I had to walk with my eyes closed or even stand still with them closed I felt like the Empire State building swaying in the wind. When I walked with my eyes closed I thought I was walking straight until my physical therapist told me to STOP...when I opened my eyes I almost crashed into the computers.

OOOOOOPS! LOL!

So here the next part of my journey. She said the good news is the better the balance gets, the spatial issues will go away and the anxiety might even go too. She said they are all linked...and she went into medical jargon. (Which I understood...and that is scary lol).

I'm thankful a couple of those issues are dying down (we will see...taking an Amtrak to NYC this afternoon and Penn Station is huge and crowded). But my Uncle is meeting us in the station.

So stay tuned. 2014 is going to be a tremendous year of healing for a lot of people...and I am one of them!

Me too! My therapist is very confident...she said despite the Lyme we have to retrain the brain and other entities so the right signals get from my eyes to my brain without a problem...she said her goal by the end of this is to get back on the treadmill again and start running. WOW! She said it's part of the physical therapy down the road and being that I ran marathons and was running before this Lyme fiasco that will the goal and part of my therapy.

I'm excited, anxious and nervous all at the same time. But most importantly...I'm faithful.

(So it looks like I will be buying a pair of new running shoes in the New Year)!

Hi everyone...I have not chimed in a while about physical therapy or anything. This is week 4 (I missed a week due to snow). Today was the most challenging but I did it. I had to stand on a boast (that half balance ball thing) and once I got my balance I had to toss a ball up on the wall and catch it.

Sounds easy...NOPE!

Was it easy...NOPE! But I did it! I also did work on a wobble board and then I had to hold a 6.5 pound ball while walking over small hurdles (these folks are no joke)!

This whole retraining my brain is not a walk in the park. But I'm also working out as part of my PT. I've been on the stationary bike, done resistance band stuff with my legs, etc. A year ago I could not do any of this...I would work...get my son...go home and put on my PJ's and weekends I would get my IV's and not leave the house until Monday morning.

I have 4 more sessions. But I also do the exercises at home. I do feel a difference and I pray with this, supplements, herbs, homeopathic stuff and everything else I'm doing that not only this symptom will resolve but others.

My faith has really kicked into full gear! Every week I read a post that TickledPink sent me months ago and she said one day I would be African Dancing again...and I believe it. (Thanks for that note Tickled).

I also started some new herbs (lovely artemisia annua, bumped up the Teasel Root, started Allimax supplement for Candida and other gunk, Ashwagandha for helping me with the withdrawal symptoms of Lorazepam and it's great for giving you a boost and homeopathic remedies).

I do my IV's every 3-4 weeks which is fabulous. My body is holding itself together without weekly IV's...I'm slowly tapering.

Next up...colon hydrotherapy in the next week or two and another Aqua Chi Session.

Lastly...I went back to church 3 weeks ago. I could not go to church for a year. The anxiety and spatial issues were crippling. But I went on my birthday weekend and I cried my eyes out because it felt so good to go back to my church home

I'm going to be Summer Olympic ready by the time this Lyme ride is over! Love you all...heal well and God Speed.

Hi TickledPink!!!!! Thank you so much!!!! Since January 1st so many things have happened that have been wonderful and it's only February 6th. I want to keep posting my progress on here because a year ago I needed to hear "good news."

I am proud and even on my so so days I reflect back and remember all that I came through with this hideous disease...and it is hideous!

You inspired me too book a trip the minute my balance and some other symptoms resolve! I'm going to Hawaii!!!!! When you see that update on here then you know...I'm almost if not all the way symptom free!

TheWryter, That is soooo awesome!!! Please keep us updated on your running progress!!! Do you have a race in mind?? I want to sign up for one but I'm afraid my body will not let me. Keep up the awesome work
