Hi Lyme77,
Welcome to our community! I'm so glad you found us!
I too would like to encourage you to find a LLMD or a LLND (or other Holistic practitioner) and get started with treatments. Postponing treatment will only make it harder to recover as there will be more havoc going on inside.
If you haven't yet, I would like to greatly encourage you to read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread as it's packed with important information like symptoms lists (as Lyme rarely is the only infection passed at the time), a list of questions that you can ask any practitioner that you seek treatment from, detoxing instructions, helpful links and pdfs, and more.
Generally speaking, herxes can be controlled- or at least eased - with detoxing. We all need different levels of detoxing, so the only way to know if you are doing "enough" detoxing is when you don't herx or it's only minor.
You will want someone who is more than just "technically" a LLMD - they should have had plenty of training from ILADS and have shown that they are effective. We might be able to help you find one if you don't already have one in mind.
For information on finding a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you can start a new thread titled something like:"Looking for LLMD/LLND in the _______ area." Although you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.
You can email Stephanie at:

Lyme Disease.
You can also go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:
