Is there anyone here on the forum you have gotten better on antibiotics only and have had no relapse? I am trying to figure out what to do after being on Doxy 400mg/day for 5 months with little success and recent Babesia Zithro 250mg 2x daily and Mepron 750mg 2x daily. Feeling horrible.

Lymebabe, I have been on antibiotics exclusively for 6 months, and like you, have seen little success. I did get better or eliminated some of the symptoms, but unfortunately, the most troublesome are still present.

After having been on Amoxicillin, Biaxin, Bactrim and Doxy, I have come to the conclusion that my current symptoms are caused by Bartonella, and that because I have not used a cyst buster, that the infection returns each time I get off the antibiotics.

You should also consider Bartonella as the reason why you are unable to heal completely. Many of its symptoms parallel those of Lyme.

I added Rifampin to my treatment last week, but unfortunately, I had to get off of all antibiotics for a few days due to the side effects of Doxy. I will probably go back on Rifampin but with Biaxin instead of Doxy.

I do take Nattokinase for the cysts and have been for the last 2 months but does not seem to be making much of a difference. I take about 1 million supplements on top of that to combat everything that goes with it but thinking it's time to change course...

Hi, Healing98.

I think we may have discussed this before-

I took Amox & Clarithromycin in the beginning, then we stopped the Amox and added Bactrim, then added Ceftin, so I take those 3 now. My doc. added the Bactrim specifically for Bartonella, and I have noticed a major decrease in anxiety and panic. I still get it, but the intensity and frequency are less. I can actually get out of the house now. I wonder if the Bactrim just didn't hit your Bartonella enough? I take the DS twice a day. Or maybe for me, it is just a combination of all 3 of them working, and getting up to full doses? It's like a giant puzzle, this disease.

I've also been taking Nattokinase since the beginning.

I saw my greatest improvements when i cleaned up my diet. How are you in that regard?

I am trying to eat gluten, sugar, milk, and yeast free (the doc said so). I did see a big improvement when I started 3 or so months ago but not big enough to keep me gainfully employed.

Hi Binduspire, yes, I think we did discuss this before. I took Bactrim for only a month so you are correct in that I probably didn't give it enough time to be effective. Bactrim did improve my vision so it did do good for that one month that I was on it.

I agree with you 100% that it is hard to find the right combination of chemicals that are the most effective for that one individual. I wish there was one antibacterial that touched all of them effectively.

I met with my LLMD yesterday and went over everything. We decided that I am going back to Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin since I did well on those. Then we are adding Rifampin for the Bartonella.

My LLMD is aware of some recent trials where Rifampin and Clarithromycin were used with good success so we are going to try this.

The month that I was on Doxy I got rid of a good percentage of my chronic fatigue. before the Doxy I was spent cleaning the ice off one half of the windshield on the car. A month after Doxy I was able to shovel the snow from my driveway. That is a huge improvement. Too bad I had bad side effects from it (intracranial pressure, debilitating headaches, and severe Gastrointestinal issues).
