Back after a long while.

Hi, some here might remember me. I was very active on the forum and then left to concentrate on getting well. Turns out I had a major Babesia relapse which made me lose it for a while. Sorry to anyone I might have offended. It wasn't me, honestly!

I am still working on getting well. So I had a 25 year infection that was not treated properly, then a re-infection with co-infections. Treated for two years, and let off of abx, only to be re-infected. It's been six years of treatment. At this point, I have readjusted my expectations for my time line for total recovery.

That is not to say I have given up in any way. You see, because I have been ill for so long, I didn't know what "well" really felt like. I can't believe how much better I feel now and I am expecting and working hard for a full recovery.

And then I will take over the world... no, I won't... the paperwork would be impossible!

The real reason I am back is that my grandson has Lyme. He was bitten two years ago. He had three weeks of treatment. I begged my daughter to take him to a Lyme literate doctor or herbalist. She needed to have faith in her pediatrician and I can understand it. The pediatrician said her son had Lyme and she had treated him successfully.

But deep down I was and am seething. Perhaps not so deep down!

Because gradually he started to have sensory and behavior problems. All could be attributed to development and age-related problems; but they weren't. The birth of his brother brought on a major crisis. His temperature intolerance, sound intolerance -- egads everything intolerance all sky rocketed. I mentioned this to his parents but it wasn't until one knee swelled up that they went back to the pediatrician. Turns out the pediatrician has treated her son MANY times, and truly believes her son has been re-infected.

My heart breaks for my grandson and the pediatrician's son. What a ridiculous waste.

My daughter is now taking my lead in the treatment of my grandson. We've been on a road trip to visit one of the few Lyme pediatricians available. He almost dismissed it as a re-infection until I listed all the neurological involvement. My grandson is being tested by Igenex and we are looking for co-infections. My how I wish my LLMD could treat kids.

I am tending towards the herbal route for him. So much easier to administer to a child of four. I would love to hear from anyone else who has done this.

I'm sorry. I pray your grandson gets the treatment he needs and recovers. I know how it feels to worry about little ones. I have six children and was diagnosed 1 yr ago with chronic lyme, they think I had it long before I had any of my children. Some of my kids have symptoms. I am terrified and don't know what to do. We will begin testing soon here. My youngest are 2.5 yrs old and 15 mths.
