MamaV, yes, I too experience this because of Lyme. The curious thing about mine is that when it first started, it would start after consuming something that was high on salt (sodium). Before I knew I had the infection, I was being treated for high blood pressure and was told to avoid salt. I started to cook my own food and stopped eating at restaurants so I could control what went into the food. Remember that at this time, my doctor and I were blaming all of my Lyme symptoms to my high blood pressure so it was critical for me to lower it at whatever cost.
Anyways, so one day, after months of eating less than 100mg of sodium daily, I had the worst craving for a breakfast sandwich. I stopped at a fast food restaurant and ordered one that later I found out it had 1600mg of sodium in it. about 20 minutes after eating the sandwich my ear started thumping so hard and with the rhythm of my heart. And the weird thing is that it was only on my left ear. I spoke with a cardiologist and he sent me to my ENT for examination. My ENT found nothing abnormal.
about a week later I "stole" a bag of french fries from my wife and they were very salty. Soon after, the thumping started again. I thought it was more than a coincidence, so I tested my theory and sure enough, 15-20 minutes after eating a salty food I would get the thumping. I no longer avoid salt and ever since the thumping has gone away.
I now get a pulsating effect all over my body that is in sync with my heart beat. If you have ever hit your finger with a hammer and have felt that throbbing feeling, that's what it feels like, but all over my body.
