Is it possible to pulse augmentin?
Or at least pulse the second pill?
And for how long should it be taken?
Thanks

I was on augmentin when I had lyme and didn't yet have a diagnosis. It caused an 'antibiotic caused version of hepatitis' for me. I read a research article that augmentin occasionally causes that to happen in the acute stages of lyme. Though i think it's rare.

I have tolerated 99% of all ABX except for augmentin which caused severe AAD. Tried to hang in there but stopped it after only six weeks. MD said it as most likely caused by the Clav portion of Rx.

You follow the manufacturers instructions??? Most LLMDs prescribe these ABX long term, and rotate and/or pulse to prevent resistance.

It was hard for me to tell the difference between the lyme symptoms and the hepatitis symptoms, although I didn't have any of the obvious signs like jaundice or liver pain. My ALT/AST and something else were 10x normal! They found this when I went to the ER the first time with my heart related symptoms and couldn't figure out what was causing it. My levels returned to normal after a few weeks off of augmentin. At the time I wasn't taking milk thistle because I was being advised by a regular MDs. perhaps an ND would have advised me differently, especially if I had known I had lyme.
