If a co-infection comes back positive, is this very accurate or can there be a false positive?

I would think it's extremely accurate considering most of the co-infection testing is done with PCR or the FISH test which attempts to detect the DNA or RNA of the pathogen.

The only worry would be a negative result, because these tests have poor sensitivity and don't catch infected people with high success.
