rifamoin question - nervous to start!

I would start it since you still have symptoms so you can squash it out completely. I hate antibiotics also, maybe you can go on an herbal remedy. You came to far to give up, hope you can get to 100% better soon.

Think that's my fear. Anxiety! I have touch of it naturally. Lol. Otherwise I would not be posting that I'm nervous to start the drug. By mostly because I have heard lots of ppl say they had anxiety and panic attack while on it! I'd say I'm more weepy at times with the lyme but had a serious bout with severe "internal shaking" anxiety when I was pregnant last year (unrelated to lyme prob hormone stabilizing) & I never want to feel that way again. :(

Rifampin is really good stuff and is well tolerated by my body. Without it, I have noticeably higher levels of anxiety and anger issues. Rifampin is also synergistic with other ABXs and herbs, because it doesnt kill the bacteria itself, it just inhibits their replication.

I cant say whether its Rifampin specifically, but as of last week, Im no longer testing positive for Bab and Bart anymore! So I highly recommend it.

toridemi - The short answer is yes, treating Lyme can rid your body of Bart.

The long answer is more complex. Healthy individuals who are not immune compromised supposedly can rid Bart without the use of any drugs whatsoever. So the trick is to return your body to health (with drugs, supplements or herbs) and eliminating the bugs that are compromising your system (like lyme, but also parasites, mycoplasms, coinfections and even genes).

Ive been on Rifampin for over 14 months, maybe longer. I know its working because on the weeks/months I missed it, these symptoms (and others returned).

I believe at this point no one has a really good answer to this question.

I'm not aware of Bart facilitating (dormancy) of bartonella; it can do that all by itself.

Simply for dealing with B.Burg there is zero doubt that there has to be a 'change-up' of antibiotics, not just because of acquired tolerance, but because of resistant physiological forms that b.burg can fall back upon . Add to that necessary 'cocktail shuffle' is the very logical application of ALLOWING SPACE for the immune system to get back into gear; if antibiotics are keeping the 'exposed' live bacteria down, the immune system has nothing to do, and will dissipate, or become otherwise occupied. Allowing 2-week drug-free periods has been demonstrated to be unusually beneficial in that, IF a exponentially proliferative bacteria surfaces, the immune system may be kick-started into proper function.
Much of the 'success' of herbal-snake-oil testified to here may have to do with deficiencies that are incumbent with (some) infections; as they offer... perhaps...Magnesium, Tryptophan, Omega's... etc. etc. which may indeed be a limiting factor. (Or they may have to do with keeping an income coming in for a relative...).
