Protruding and painful xiphoid process anyone

I have for years intermittently had a protruding xiphoid process that is also pretty painful. Does anyone else get this, and do you know if it's related to anything? I also get a diffuse pain around it, not just at the site. I always found it odd and I have it today and never wondered until now if it was related to my lyme, I mean everything can't be a symptom right? ;)

It's cartilage that is at the base if the sternum between the left and right rib cage and connects costal cartilage. It is supposed to be fused and non moveable by age 29. Mine sticks out sometimes and hurts really badly.

Did you lose a substantial amount of weight recently? People who lose a considerable about of weight often complain about protruding/noticeable xihpoid process, sometimes painful.
