my daughter's lyme test - need help with results!!

hi, I will be calling my LLMD shortly, but incase I have to wait to speak to her, does anyone have an opinion about this -

she came out indeterminate bc she only has band 41 under IGM and band 66 as a nonspecific band IGM

I looked up band 66 and it says its cross reactive, common for all bacteria

so does this mean she most likely doesn't have lyme??? but she has something, bc she has a fever again!!

hmmm I only had band 41 on my normal western blot (not IgeneX) and my LLMD started treating me immediately.

He said this band is only specific to spirochetes so if I don't have Lyme, then I have syphilis. And I don't have syphilis! lol.

But I hope and I will pray that your daughter does not have this.

thanks - but if she does, she will be treated now and be fine, bc she only has stage 1 symptoms.

that's what I am trying to figure out - band 41 represents either lyme, syphilis or some weird oral dental bacteria. Ive been doing tons of research, and I can't find any other type of sickness that has a "tail"

Which leads me to believe that I think she is positive =(

It makes me wonder, what kind of dental bacteria is strong enough to make a P.41 band pop on a quest diagnostic test? It seems like something simple like gingivits would be very unlikely to make it pop.

clarification - this was not quest labs

I had the tests done at Stonybrook Lyme Disease Labs, in NY which is supposed to be very reliable.

I would look into it. Apparently syphillis or really bad dental disease will make 41 pop. If not those two, there's a high chance this is it if there's also symptoms along with it.

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis supported by lab data. Tests are largely flawed even at the best labs. What state are you in? Is she seeing a llmd?

I was told by my naturopath that Babesia (which I test positive for--the duncani version) can also make band 41 pop. This is the only band I have positive on my Western Blot for Lyme.

I had a positive 41. They started treating me for lyme and babesia.. but I'm starting to wonder if I have babesia possibly.. made I should ask about it on my next visit.

Just because your daughter has tested negative for lyme doesn't mean the other coinfections (bartonella, babesia, mycoplasma, ehrlichia, other protozoan parasites etc.) are not involved.

Lyme may not be showing up either:

1) because she doesn't have it, or
2) her immune system is under-functioning (immune suppression) because of it and is not reacting with the proper production of antibodies. They therefore don't show as reactive on the test.

hmm that is interesting about band 41 and Babesia! Like I said, that was the only band positive for me on the non-IgeneX WB, and I have clear Babesia symptoms.

Well I was very lucky. Called a well known pediatric llmd in the city and the person on the phone before me just cancelled their appointment so I got a slot for her tmrw!!! I am not playing guessing games anymore. Yes lyme is a clinical diagnosis but much harder to detect in toddlers I would think. Well no matter what I am relieved I am bringing her to see him tmrw. I feel extremely fortunate!!!
