I'm thinking I have Babesia too...

I'm really starting to think I have Babesia with Lyme... Or maybe just Babesia, who knows. I've been on combos of antibiotics for 16 months and have improved minimally. In 2 weeks it will be two years since I found the tick and the red, oval rash. So many of the symptoms of Lyme and Babesia overlap, but maybe that's why I'm not getting better. I have terrible night sweats, muscle aches - abdominal core radiating out. Sensitivity to light and sound and eye pressure. Also air hunger. All these can be Babesia. I've read that best chance of getting a positive result is in the first 3 months. I went to the Dr. At 3 months when all the symptoms kicked in. The tingling progressing from legs to arms very quickly alarmed me. What do you all think, does it sound like I might have Babesia or another co infection? So far testing negative for everithing... Igg 41 and 66 has come up on tests, but at separate times. I'm on tramadol and Butrans patch for pain...tramadol barely works at this point. I'm afraid I'm going to be on hardcore pain meds by the time I get better, if I get better and a new problem will be created. Just getting really frustrated! I have a 6, 9 and 10 year old who need their mommy :(....

Oh inspiredby3 I'm so sorry to hear this. Bottom line whether you have babesia or not, the current treatment plan is obviously not working. A few things to bear in mind. Even coinfection tests are not reliable. I'm not saying you have babesia but that does seem to be an issue when treating lyme. If the symptoms are not improving you do need to look at that as a possibility. When do you see your dr next? Make an appointyment asap. Also long term antibiotic use no matter what the books say, in my opinion does bring up a resistance issue. What antibiotics are you on currently? You may have to be your own advocate here. You needs new doc, fresh eyes. Where do you live? I also can relate, my kids are 15, 13, 11, 9, 2.5, and mths old. I was so sick when pregnant especially but we didn't know why. I was literally bedridden with my pregnancy with my 2 1/2 yr old and oddly felt much better with my subsequent pregnancy with my now 17 mth old. I was nursing my at the time 6 mth old while pregnant again so it's weird that I felt better. My doc says it may have forced my body to mount a response. If you need doc recommendations I have some good ones, of course I don't know what your geographic restrictions are.

Wow Maine76! That's all I can say is Wow! How r your little one's? Are they getting treated? I can't even imagine! I have to take a look at my recent blood test... Something came up equivocal. Mystery1, I just read anything coming up equivocal for Babesia means Positive for it.

I live in North Jersey. Dr. Fein is supposed to be good, I think I'll try her next. There's also a good one in NY, but am trying to stay within NJ first and if not helped to to NY. Getting into the city is such a pain and parking too, besides very costly. But if anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear. As well as any herbalists. I think I'd like to get their opinion also.

inspiredby3 - I am doing much better, thank you. Just a few symptoms remain. I am going to see my LLMD this Wed- I am expecting her to increase my doxy or something bc I haven't herxed in about a week. Feel like I am at a standstill, but I do feel MUCH better. I will let you know how it goes. What state are you in? good luck finding a new LLMD!!! There is a light at the end of this tunnel, we all just have to work so hard to get there.
