My husband is a dentist. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time as we made some poor decisions early on that has now bought me here. My husband wasn't very helpful when it came to detecting Lyme and having him as my husband pretty much messed me up. I found a deeply imbedded tick and an oval rash 2 years ago. Could not get the tick out for the life of me and ended up leaving the head in. I looked up Lyme online and the description of the rash didn't match the rash I had. I thought I had an allergic reaction to the tick bite. My husband talked to a Dr. Friend and he told him to prescribe me the 1 time preventive dose of Doxy. As you can imagine, that didn't do anything. I get so mad, if I just had gone to the Dr. He would have put me on 3 weeks of Doxy and I wouldn't be here today. On top of it, the Doxy dose I took most likely was an attributing factor to me testing negative for Lyme. Well, 2.5 months later I came down with all the Lyme symptoms.
Tickbite... I'm sorry to hear your clinic experience was not positive :(.... I'm praying that the Columbia one has some better Drs. From what I hear, they are the leading Lyme research facility in the country. The Dr. That called my husband said they will also work along with my Dr. With my treatment. With the 2 day appt. they gave me, I know they will be doing extremely thorough testing, so maybe we'll get some more answers as to why I'm not getting better.
Yeah, so many Drs. Are clueless and so many LLMDs could be doing so much more than they are (including my Dr) if they just spent a little more time aducating themselves in this disease. I really hope your Dr. Is able to help you.
I'll keep you updated with what happens... Maybe they will do something helpful that you would be able to suggest to your Dr. To try...
