well my insurance wants me to go to the Infectious Disease Doctor. I called and they have an appointment tomorrow.(which is a little scary, no wait) anyway, I am going to hear what he has to say. I have a few questions and was wondering if anyone else has something that I really need to ask.

I do have an appointment with my LLMD in April.

I am just going to the IDD to see what he has to say but I am a little worried he wont think about the coinfections. I also wonder if I start the antibiotics will they mess up the test for coinfections?

Of course they want you to go to ID dr...because they won't treat you. I would cancel the appointment unless the guy is ILADs trained. They might be looking for an excuse to deny your treatment based on another doctors 'opinion'

Do you have PPO?

haha there are a few good ID docs out there don't get me wrong, I just worry about the insurance aspect of it.

I guess the question is though my insurance won't cover the LLMD of course which I understand so where do you start? From what I understand I'm going to pay my LLMD all-cash so my insurance will never even know about him.

They should if you are ppo - they will reimburse you for some but not all of your drs visit. I mean I guess in that case the ID is worth a shot - maybe he can at least run more tests on you that insurance will cover.

At the least, insurance should cover your antibiotics - by law they cannot refuse to cover that if a doctor prescribes it.

That being the case, why go to the ID doc? Save yourself a lot of frustration and avoid them unless they have gone through the ILADS training and are willing to follow ILADS treatment standards.

Going to an ID won't help you get insurance coverage. Quite the contrary. HOWEVER, Dr. J. in DC is an ID, and he's an LLMD.
