reddish spot, during abx treatment

hi all,

My son has been on abx now for 6 weeks, and he is making improvements. (thank the Lord!) He still has symptoms; I know it's not over yet, but I know he's improving; he has more energy and less complaints of some symptoms.

anyway,
my question is,
it seems like I've read somewhere (maybe here, I can't remember) that sometimes with abx treatment the original tick bite area will get another rash, or reddish?

maybe not; maybe I misunderstood or am remembering wrong, but is that true?

I ask b/c, we never saw a tick on my son, but now 6 weeks into treatment, for the past few, or more days, he has had a little pale red spot on his lower back, actually right on the waistband of pants area.

This could be something else I realize, but was wondering if it has to do with an old bite? hmm.

answering my own question :)

I googled my question and saw something that said this can happen. very interesting. I'm wondering if this is what I'm seeing on him then. It's light red, round(ish) and just bigger than a quarter. I suppose it doesn't matter in the end, but very interesting to think maybe it could be a bite site.

this is exactly what happened to my son!! this is how I knew he had lyme!! and I bet where my son's rash was is where the bite was. His first and only one of 3 symptoms was complaint of his legs hurting. He crawled out of bed 3 mornings in a row, and then on the third morning, the rash appeared!

Yep, I bet this is what happened! When I was looking for an answer online last night, I read a question similar to mine on a different question/answer page, and someone said regarding a rash coming back during treatment:

"I know in my case the rash came back during treatment. My lyme specialist said that he sees this often in his patients. May be the body's memory of the point of entry of the infection."

and it seems l've read something to that effect another time.

It's interesting, isn't it?

My son's little red spot is faint, and perhaps that's not what it is, but it could be. It made me kind of sad to see it thinking maybe that's where this all started, and it makes me anxious all over again of this warm weather and playing outside, b/c I never saw a tick on him, but not surprising after learning how small they can be.
There's going to be lots of tick checking this summer, and repellents, and "don't go in those bushes"…"stay away from that leaf pile…". It's going to be a long spring, summer, and fall.

(sorry to sound negative; I shouldn't, b/c I've actually been in good spirits lately as I see improvements in him and so I'll think about that, yet I'll be careful too!)

awe, well, what we are doing is, we are staying away from the possibility of any tick bites this year, until we all heal up. so no hikes in the woods of any kind! and if we go to fire island, we head straight to the ocean with no side trips!!! next year we are going back to what we used to do, but will be taking more precautions - spraying, checking, etc. And I am NOT going back upstate! LOL

I cant remember, did you believe he got bitten in your backyard or no?
