I just had the new advance labs Borrelia culture test done and it came back positive.
I was on antibiotics in from 2007 to 2011 after probably having lyme for at least 15 years, maybe longer, maybe all of my life. I was on an antibiotic break for the past three years. Even my lyme disease doctor convinced me that I did not have Lyme disease anymore. I had been pursuing other things like my back problems and other infections that I had. Now I am back on Doxy and herxing like crazy and very very sick. Sweats and chills all day long, stomach cramps, weakness, fatigue just feel horrible.
My Lyme disease doctor is saying that I probably just got reinfected but I know better. Since I went on the antibiotic break I was getting progressively worse and worse. The all over body pain was getting worse and the muscle weakness was just getting worse and worse. I always suspected in the back of my mind that I still had lyme disease and expressed that concern to my lyme disease specialist and my primary care doctor but they always convinced me that I was cured. The neurologist had been testing me for all other kinds of neurological diseases like ALS, myasthenia, motor neuron disease just like before my Lyme disease diagnosis in 2007.
During my antibiotic break I was in a study for hepatitis C and I was cured of it. But now that I know I still have lyme I worry that maybe some of the Hep C was in the biofilms and I am going to get it back again.
One thing I know for sure is that I was culture positive and antibody negative so this is proof now of that possibility. I am sure there are many more like me. Are they going to open their eyes now to this possibility? Is this test now recognized? It's a culture test. it's 99% accurate. This has got to be the end of this controversy.
