I've had Lyme since I was 11 and had chiropractic care since I was 12 until I was 18. It helped a lot and I always felt so much better after getting adjusted. Then I had to switch chiropractors and the new one made my neck hurt much worse in a bad way for a month so I didn't get adjusted for three years.
I started going to a chiropractor again two weeks ago. The doctor made my neck feel amazing, it was really weird having my neck feel so good! But then the guy quit the next day! So I now see a different doctor and I have been adjusted by him twice. I am extremely sore after for 3 days but I think it is helping my neck pain. I have bulging disks (from a car accident 2 years ago) and a straight neck (for like the past 5 or more years) so I really have to get adjusted otherwise the straightening will become permanent and I will get arthritis and my disks can become herniated. Also maybe adjustments will help my scoliosis.
I think I am pro-chiropractors again. I thought I would never get adjusted again but my neck pain was becoming so unbearable I had to do something and I think I made the right choice by going back to a chiropractor. I don't know if it is good or bad for people with Lyme to get adjusted but I have had it for ten years, so at this point I'm just like whatever.
I wouldn't call my after-adjustment pains a flare up, but I do feel very sore after. It is a different pain than my usual pain. I think icing helps and I lay my neck on a squishy foam roll (I think it is called a mackenzie roll) which also I think helps.
