Amino acids question

My llmd I saw a couple weeks ago suggested taking amino acids but all the amio acids sold at my health food store are made with foods I have developed intolerance to. I think theh had milk which surprised me. Curiuos what brand, type of amino acids otherscare taking. Also have MTHFR A1298C. is anyone else taking amino acids? My hormones, endocrine system in general and neuroteansmitters are extremely low and I believd amino acids are being suggested to support these systems.

I wonder if what your store had was whey powder, which is from milk.

Garden Peace could be right, many pills contain milk derivatives. My sister is highly allergic to casein, and has to be very careful with supplements. Always has to go through the other ingredients.
As for the amino acids: my dr prescribed me L-tryptophan because I was (am) still feeling very depressed, especially when I'm going through a very bad herx (or when having a Bartonella flare). I need to start this again, it takes a while to actually work, so I loose my patience and leave it out of my pill feeds.
Did your dr mention a specific amino acid? Or an amino acid complex?

She recoed Amino Acids Complex and the brand was Basic but I could not find any info on their ingredients. I went to a local health food store to see what other Amino Acid complexes had as ingredients and that was when I was surprised bu a couple of ingredients I am now sensitive to.

Yes for the longest time I had no idea Casein was a milk protein (why dont they just say milk protien). I became intolerant to many foods and supplements a couple of flare ups ago (3-4 years ago, it was a really bad flare up). I guess all flare ups are bad when I give it more thought. This has been the hardest adjustment since for 5o years I had zero foo issues. Just one more loss to add to the list...

I'll send a note to the doctor and ask about the Montiff Basic Amino Acids ingredients.

those food intolerances and allergies are a real burden... I've been used to them for many years, but it's been shaken since I started treatment...

I eat a tablespoon or more of bee pollen each day to replace the amino acids. It is recommended that you start with a few granules at a time in case you are allergic but I have endless food allergies and sensitivities and bee pollen is not one if them. It is a complete food too so it's great to mix in a smoothie or snack on, and it's naturally sweet. It is an acquired taste, my partner doesn't like it, I can't get enough.

Another website ( www.emersonecologics.com/Products/EmersonMain/PID-ABPL1.aspx ) gives the ingredients of the Montiff Basic Amino Acids as the following:

Active Ingredients:

Alanine
Arginine
Cysteine
Glutamic acid
Glutamine
Histidine
Leucine
Lysine
Methionine
Serine
Tryptophan
Tyrosine
Valine

Inactive Ingredients:

Cellulose, Gelatin, Magnesium stearate, Microcrystalline cellulose, Stearic acid

But the product's website ( montiff.com/v3/download/All-Basic%20Literature.pdf ) gives the following active ingredients:

"Each capsule contains 677mg. of the following ingredients with the highest to lowest amounts listed in this proprietary formula. L-Lysine HCL, L-Isoleucine, L-Glutamine, L- Tyrosine, L-Threonine, L-Alanine, L-Leucine, L-Histidine, L-Arginine HCL. L-Aspartic Acid, L-Valine, Ornithine-α-Ketoglutarate, L-Methione, L-Cystine, L-Glutamic Acid, Glycine, L- Phenylalanine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, L-Serine, Taurine, L-Proline."

There is no info about inactive ingredients.

'Nina'- you so know so much about this protocol, you couldn't have been on it for more then a week given your posting dates. You should probably see if it works, and specifically what is working for you too, before you recommend it.
