hi stacestar,
You need to buy plain kefir, not the flavored kind. The favored kind has a lot of sugar in it, and sugar feeds bacteria of all kinds.
Make sure he doesn't have food allergies. For example, contrary to popular belief, wheatgrass does have gluten in it, as I unfortunately found out.
You might try cutting out all gluten, or cutting out all dairy (and definitely soy!!). I agree about stopping the extra stuff, and then you can add in one item at a time, and see if it provokes a reaction or not.
You might want to make sure your probiotic is free of dairy, soy, and gluten.
Keep adding a probiotic food to every meal he eats. There are many different kinds of probiotic foods, and you can also buy coconut kefir, or water kefir.
If he has a lot of intestinal upset, this kind of thing is made worse by sugar and starchy food. You might look into the SCD or GAPs diet, but only if the problem continues.
You can do a day of nothing but bone broths and gelatin.
You can also make a smoothie out of ripe bananas, squash, avocado, honey, and kefir or coconut milk, plus an allergy-free protein powder, or an egg boiled for one minute. You might want to add fruits that are good for the intestines, like mango, papaya, or blueberries, but you need to cook the mango and the blueberries first.
Try digestive enzymes when you think he's ready.
