I had a MRI of my back a few days ago and the Rheum. called
with the results that said I have Spinal Stenosis. He gave a few suggestions for relief and then told me he got the copies of my Lyme tests from the LLMD also. And he said it is not LD.

So should I just ignore him and continue the tx from the LLMD? It has only been a few months of abx and I have had just a few
good days, not many.

Any ideas?

You should tell you LLMD what he said and see what his opinion is since he has been working with you. That's what I would do. I hope you get some relief from your spine problem.

SueG, only you can make that decision. No one knows how you feel inside better than yourself. You have read what others write here about their experiences, pain, and misery dealing with Lyme. If you cannot relate our symptoms with what you are going through, then perhaps you don't have Lyme.

I really hope that is in not Lyme and that it is in fact spinal stenosis. If the pain medicines, exercise, and physical therapy do not help and you get worse, at least you have educated yourself on Lyme and can always continue with treatment.

I second what Healing has said, only you can make this decision for yourself. If I were in your situation I would google everything about spinal stenosis (like I did with lyme) and see if I had a lot of symptoms that could not be explained by spinal stenosis and vice versa with lyme.

Be careful who you give your igenex information too. I did not give mine to anyone and I only shared my LLMD's information with one other dr that I trust. Often these drs are targeted and reported this way, which is a bad thing for those of us that do have lyme!

It would be, highly unusual, for any infectious disease dr, rheumatologist, neurologist etc to agree that you have lyme, even if you had a positive test. That is the way it is with lyme.

Is spinal stenosis easily treatable?

I just had an MRI of the brain, cervical spine, and lumbar...

My MRI reports stenotic areas.... I would highly, highly, suggest taking those reports to a top-notch spine specialist, because 80% of folks have a bit of stenosis... The key is to find out how much stenosis is actually going on and if it's pinching the nerves that are causing your current pain. Because if it is not, then I would be skeptical and say it's both but only you know how you feel

Thanks for your replies. I didn't really agree with him that this is
not LD. I have a zillion symptoms like all of you, a positive Igenex test and only Lyme could fit all of those. I think I have both LD and this back pr. and I am wondering
if all this LD in my body has made the back stuff worse.

Do you find that your other chronic illnesses have gotten worse since your LD came on?

I have noticed LD targets our weakest points and I am sure others can vouch this is true.

I have Lyme and spinal stenosis, I would go by your positive Igenex and if you have more symptoms then what stenosis gives you then I would keep up the treatment. Regular doctors don't know much about Lyme so I wouldn't even consider their opinions.

When I first became ill, I had 3 MRI's to rule out MS. They found I had spinal stenosis and a bulging disk too, but not MS. I don't think mine has anything to do with Lyme Disease, but more hereditary or age (I'm 56). The doctor said many people have both conditions and don't even know it, but find it when looking for other things. I am currently on antibiotics for Lyme's and feeling slightly better. (I'm in WI too) I hope you can get some clarity.
