For several weeks I'd been doing so well. The anxiety and depression had lessened, head pressure and headaches were gone, energy had picked up. I thought I was turning the corner--so much so that I shelled out $200 (that I don't have, thank goodness for credit cards) so that I could keep taking the Malarone while I fight with the insurance co.

I've been on Malarone for about 6 weeks now. After the first 3.5 weeks, and the addition of Rifampin, the anxiety that has been kicking my butt since August began to disappear. I'm wondering whether the setback means the Malarone isn't working, after all. Don't want to shell out another $155 to keep me going for another 10 days (I see my LLMD on May 1) if it's not really working. What do you all think?

I pretty much stick one and possibly pulse a second antibiotic at a time. I evaluate their effects based on my progress. I know my body cannot handle more than that so that is what I do. Also if I start to develop side effects from a paticular med I move on. Example I developed gout from Omnicef. I cut it off for a while and switched but still keep it on hand. Why ? I had excellent results with it and may want to go back to it.
When I feel like Ive had too much I give myself short breaks from the meds too. Dr also said that was okay.
The best medicine for the psych effects of the disease that I have found is Omnicef. I find you feel better and it gives a general feeling of well being. It does penetrate the blood brain barrier and I think this is why. I also use Doxy with Omnicef with good results. When I need a break from both of them Im using Ammox. This is a low maintenance med that the body seems to be able to handle.

Omnicef, huh? Haven't tried that one. I'll ask my LLMD about it when I see him next.

I agree with barngurl, im on omnicef as well and have made tremendous progress! Im feeling better than i have since being diagnosed in dec 2012. I also cannot handle more than 1 abx at a time and am very sensitive to most. I move on from abx to abx all the time and hold onto ones that have caused me to make progress.

hi soscared. I have had to stop all my meds I have been so ill with severe herxx. I am taking a break and would you believe I have slept for 2 nights in a row where I could not sleep on the drugs. I have felt better these last 2 days, and my severe headaches have not come back yet, but I am on guard.

I am going to see dr j in june and I want to know amount omincef. i have neuro lyme and I need something that will really cross the BBB. I have taken minocycline and that has helped. off now. may stay off all drugs until my md visit in june.
