Hey Path,
Did you say that S. Boulardii was basically a yeast, and is it directly related to Brewer's or Baker's Yeast? Can it cause yeast flares?
After my FMT for C. Diff., my c. diff. obviously did get better. Meanwhile, every single doctor I went to told me to go on S. Boulardii.
But after having read your posts, along with the posts of someone named, "guy feels well" on the Crohn's Forum, I started wondering (as my diarrhea had come back).
I heard FOS could be really bad for those with intestinal problems, so I stopped all FOS, plus Jarrow's S. Boulardii with MOS. I didn't try the S. Boullardi without MOS, but both FOS and MOS seem to aggravate my diarrhea. Since then, my diarrhea has gotten better, at least for the time being. I kept a journal, and it gets a bit worse with chocolate, nuts, and goat milk kefir, but the latter could be due to the fact that it's milk.
Now, here's another question. What about pro- or prebiotic foods? IE yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kombucha? I did stop kombucha, bc I'm quite sure it's a yeast. And the others? Are they pro- or prebiotics?
Thx., Margaret
