Rifampin

Found it very easy to tolerate and very easy on the stomach. Will turn your pee bright orange but that's because the actual substance is red. Feces reddish tinge as well. May be scary first time you urinate but it's nothing really. Some people herx bad on it but those are the probably the sickest. I felt fine on it with only slight herxes (throat on fire upon awakening and red streaks on back).

I also recently was on Rif, plaq and mino.... very effective for me. Rif interacts poorly with many other Rx, making them either weaker or stronger than normal. That gives it a bad rap.

Some folks don't tolerate it well, and most should start slow at 1/2 dose for a week before going full dose, and then phase in the rest of your ABX protocol.

I've been on Zith, Rif, and Doxy;

IV Rocephin, Zith, Rif;

and Rif, Plaq and mino at differnet times over past three years or so.

I had been battling what we thought was a stubborn case of mepron resistant babs after long term IV Rocephin and three plus years of every ABX protocol in the book. I had plateaued at about 80% with fatigue, neuropathy, and foggy brain being my remaining worse sx.

This past Sept I took an ABX break to try two rounds of Coartem which did very little for me. So we thought maybe bart was still holding me back and started rif, mino, plaq combo. Hit me pretty hard with herx for first four to six weeks then started to have good improvements.

In March I stopped ABX and did another round of Coartem with no reaction so maybe babs is at bay. I'm weaning off all ABX and shifting to herbals. On a good day I'm about 90% with much improved brain fog and reduced neuropathy.
