I am compound heterozygous for both C667T and A1278C. My LLMD prescribed Deplin, but it was too expensive even with my insurance, so I take the 5-MTHR. I was taking B complex, but I looked at the ingredients and saw Folic acid, which is a big no-no for the mutation. So now I take Methyl B-12 (methylcobolamin).
The 5-MTHR at first made me really dizzy, but then I felt huge improvements in terms of my energy after a few days. Did you get your homocysteine and C-Reactive protein tested as well? You should really have a baseline with these readings....I read a lot of scary stuff about the MTHFR mutations and how most people have this, yet don't know. But, the good news is it's easily maintained by supplements. I read that this is probably the single most important test one could get, that could save lives.
