I'm going in for Igenex testing tomorrow at my LLMD. I called Igenex. There are a few options. Which should I do? is it necessary to pay more for extras?


$475: WBT, IFA, PCR

or

$260: Basic Lyme Panel: WBT

I feel like going with the $260.

What did you all do?

In NY we don't have the option of doing the Complete Blood Panel so basically I did the Western Blot (#188 and 189) for $200 and my Dr. suggested the Lyme serology test which costs $70. I was positive on the WB but equivocal on the other so the added on test turned out to be a waste.

Hey, thanks for the response. My LLMD told me the other tests rarely come back positive for his patients. As in your case.


Has Anyone received a positive from the IFA or PCR?

Good luck Leilex. I know how you're feeling - it's so hard to know what to test for...I'd like to test for everything - if I had a savings account, I wouldn't hesitate...but that's not the case.

I decided on the full Lyme Panel. I am going to go through Igenex, but the ND I am going to see said it will cost $600 plus her visit...yikes.

I also read that most of the treatments that kill Lyme, will kill co-infections, as well...except for Babesia...so maybe no need to get co-infections done....

I may do a test for Babesia later, if I'm not getting well treating just the Lyme.

Yes, this is so confusing! My LLMD said most PCR's do not come back positive for his patients. So, I'm not going to waste the money. I wish money grew on trees these days!

I called and the panel was $475. Yikes, I wonder what $600 is?

I am going to request doxy tomorrow. I think it's right for me.

I tried monolaurin today and I got a scalp symptom that I haven't had for years. I feel like that was a sign for me.

We just need an ANSWER! :)

Leilex: $600 - that's here in Canada - where everything is more expensive. I will be also paying $120 for the ND consult....but I should be able to get reimbursed for some of it with my hubby's health insurance.

I started the Japanese Knotwood today...so we'll see what happens.

Is monolaurin from coconut milk? (or am I getting it mixed up with something else)

Yes, you are right. ML is from coconut. It has natural antibacterial/antiviral properties. My friend almost cleared her infection with only ML. she swears by it. She was only ill for a yr though.

Thnks for the prayers. We all need some and there's plenty to give out!

I've got you on my mind as well. Sounds like we're both on the right track!

Leilex: I have an appointment with a ND close to my city last week of May. I'm hoping by then my "free" test results are back. Because if they're positive, I won't need the Igenex. (that's unlikely though).

So far, nothing (bad or good) taking the Japanese knotwood...but it's just the first day lol. I am only taking 1 caps 3X day for a week, then will go up to 2 caps 3X day....just going slowly.

I like the idea of the monolaurin...I may add that to my regimen after I add the Cat's Claw.

When are you supposed to get your free test? That's so weird.

I went back on monolaurin a few days ago. I've tried it twice and both times had to stop because of the severe herxing (back and chest muscle pain). I'm going to go slower this time and work up as I tend to jump right in. Nothing has made me herx as bad as the monolaurin did so I know it's hitting something hard. Someone on another forum credits it for reducing his EBV titer to zero so it's also great for viruses. Granted he takes a ton of it and by ton I mean like 9 grams daily and has even done double that which is insane. Took him to years to get up to that level. He also makes his own colloidal silver and takes a ton of that. I may add that in too and see how I react to it.

interesting ToddPaul. When you started the MonoL. did you start with 1/2 scoop a day or you just started with 3 scoops a day? Wondering bc I only got an old symptom from a long time ago and a little shoulder pain. Now I'm worried! :/

I'm not taking the granules. I take the caps from Ecological Formulas only because I own a vitamin store and that's what I sell. It comes in two strengths but I take the lower one (300mg.). Last time I was taking 4 caps so 1.2 grams. Now I'm on one cap a day and will definitely work up very slowly. We are all so different though. A friend of mine with Lyme says she doesn't herx from it at all but I think most do based on posts I've read.

I can also tell you that whatever Doxy hits this seems to hit also because I got that same exact back muscle pain with Doxy only worse with the monolaurin. Hard to believe the monolaurin may even be stronger in some cases but that has been my experience. I also got a little fluey with both at the start which has been one of my main Lyme symptoms.

Wow, lucky you to have your own little shop of drugs!

I took 1500 mg. And only something little happened. but maybe that's just me.

This company recommends building up to 9,000 mg per day. So, I'll shoot for that. I hear this product is great.

I'm Looking forward to some Doxy. Sounds like it does a number on you! Good luck with the treatments. You sound very knowledgeable.

Thanks. Just spoke with Allen over at inspired and he was extremely knowledgeable about the products and Lyme as well. I'll start the bio-fibrin when I get up to 9 grams a day.

He boasts a 95% success rate using both together. Sounds a bit high but I'm encouraged based on my reaction to just the monolaurin. Did your friend who did well on the monolaurin use high doses like we will eventually be? Good luck to you as well and let's keep in touch.

hi, thought I'd jump on this thread b/c of the monolaurin conversation.

I've been giving it to my son who is 4 for over a month now, and he's doing well with it (I give him 3/4 of a scoop; built up to that, and this should be his max dose based on his body weight). I haven't noticed any bad herxing (he does have flu like symptoms tonight, but has been taking the monolaurin for awhile without those symptoms, so I don't think it's that.
But, I'm wondering about the bio-fibrin stuff. I guess I could call the Inspired Nutrition guy (that's where we order ours from), but do you think it's okay for such a young child to have that too. Our llmd said ok to the monolaurin and I'd run the bio-fibrin by her too, but while I'm on the computer tonight, I thought I'd ask.

I don't really know but you can speak to Allen over at Inspired and also consult your LLMD. Allen did say that the body can remove fibrin until the age of 29 but not sure if that's relevant to biofilm. I'm a little nervous about it myself because I'm prone to nosebleeds but will try it and see. Glad to hear your son is doing well on it. Seems a bit too easy to just take two products and voila you're healed but if it helps some then it's worth it.
