When to add Cat's Claw?

I started Japanese knotweed a few days ago - 1 cap 3x day, and today have gone up a knotch - 2 caps 3x day.
Should I get up to 3 caps 3X day knotweed before i add the Cat's Claw? Or should my next step be to add Cat's Claw and then ramp up the knotweed?

Anyone know what's best?

G - are you with an LLND? They would be the best to start you on your way using the herbs correctly. I remember once being given the knotweed, but was told to take Andrographis with it, which I did, but I had to stop them both because I noticed that it created such nasty anxiety - had gone straight through the roof while I was on them. That's what happened to me, but everyone reacts differently. I do take cats claw as well as Byron White formula. Anxiety manageable at the moment, but always looming in the background - just wish this anxiety would disappear once and for all.

No, I don't have a LLND. I am self-treating - based on what I read on these forums and different websites.

I will be seeing a ND last week of May, who is not considered LL, but has done some reading, and attended a workshop on Lyme, and is also able to prescribe antibiotics. She is only 30 minutes away from my home.
I haven't had my "free" lyme test results come back yet (going on 4 weeks)...and am preparing to get the Igenex kit from the ND at the end of May.

The closest LLND is about 2 hour drive from here...which I may end up doing - if I'm not satisfied with the one who is close to home.
I live in BC, Canada, and it's even harder here to get treated...with many people spending their life savings to travel to the US for treatment. It's sad....actually more than sad...it's disgusting - that we have to suffer and scratch and claw to get help.

Sorry - felt the need to rant.

hey G - I hear ya. I'm in Canada too. Took me 14 years to find someone Lyme literate - better late than never, I suppose, but yeah, I agree - it is disgusting how it is so difficult to get proper help for this disease here. Animals - our pets get help for Lyme, but humans get thrown to the curb so to speak. Just ridiculous.

Where about in Canada are you? I may have read it once in another post - but have forgotten.
Apparently there is a vaccine for dogs...and yet it's apparently so rare here. If it's so rare, then why a vaccine for dogs...or is it just rare for humans? We go everywhere the dogs go...

So, how are you doing now and what protocol did your doc put you on?

I think it just depends on how you feel. Don't start Cat's Claw until you stop herxing from the Knotweed. Then proceed VERY slowly, bc Cat's Claw packs a mean punch.

When I was following Cowden (except I only did Banderol and Samento), I followed a very reduced form of his schedule (and proceeded much more slowly than what he recommended). I started with just the Samento, then gradually added Banderol (even before I was up to a full dose of Samento) bc the two are supposed to work together.

I also used the detox formulas.

Have you thought of following Buhner? It sounds like you're using some of the herbs from his protocol.

G - am in Ontario - sought out a LLND and am on Byron White formula. Heard many here in Ontario who don't take ABX trying Byron White formula. Hope it works.

Yes, Margaret - I am basically following Buhner's protocol - but I don't recall if it had details on how and when to add the second supplement...etc. Maybe I need to go read it again.
I haven't done any herxing yet on the Knotweed....but I may not recognize a herx...because I already have some very bad episodes.

So, I will wait a few days and then add the Cat's Claw...and then i will up the final dose of Knotweed after I've been on a low dose of Cat's claw for some days.

needhelp - I think you're further ahead with Lyme treatment in Ontario than we are here in BC. Keep us updated on the treatment. I haven't heard of the Byron white formula - I will look it up.
