Is it really possible to heal using herbs?

I'm following Buhner protocol - just started a week ago.
So far, I don't feel anything - I've just added Cat's Claw to my regimen.

If I don't get a positive Igenex test...I don't know if even the LLND close to our home will prescribe antibiotics.
If that is the case....honestly ....could I really get better doing just the natural herbs considering I will have had Lyme disease for approx. 8 months (maybe a few months longer)?

I'm just doubting everything the past couple days....

So...bottom line...I've read posts of people getting better on the natural herbs...but is it rare?

Hi Girlie,

It is not rare at all! Many people will chime in here and tell you their personal experiences, many of whom - have healed just using herbs.

In my experience, I used antibiotics, herbs, and homeopathy to get better. For me, the antibiotics were a difference of functioning vs. not. I improved right away on antibiotics. I've found that antibiotics hit the bugs pretty hard right on. With many herbs, it is a tonic effect - taking weeks or even months before becoming fully potent BUT on the upside - herbs tend to be more gentle on one's system.

Buhners is a really good start. I've found his books really helpful. As time went on I improved my immune system using herbs and cut out the antibiotics. Then after about two months of that I was pretty much just on vitamins to help repair and support my body.

It seems scary to just use herbs when we have been 'trained' that Western medicine is superior in all ways but that just isn't the case. Herbs/alternative medicine can be just as powerful. Its just up to you which method(s) you decide is best for you!

I haven't used herbals very much, so I can't answer, but I think it just depends on the individual and what all they have going on. It's so different for everyone. I'd suggest you just give it a fair chance to see how it goes. Some herbs are very powerful.

Hi there,

Yes,it is certainly possible :-)

I started out with Teasle and GSE,did 2 months of antibiotics(WHICH NEARLY KILLED ME) and finished with 6/7 months on Cowden.........Samento.Banderol,Pinella and Cumanda.

I'm still healing but I've been steadily improving,up to about 90% now.

I've written about this in another thread. I've done 1.5 months on antibiotics and my body just couldn't take it, so now I'm doing herbals. My symptoms are pretty bad too. I improved on the antibiotics right away, but I got really sick after taking zithro and it wasn't a herx.

I'm feeling better but not well and I have to believe that I can do this naturally.

Better not be rare G. 'cause that's the only route I can go. Am allergic to all synthetic drugs, so only natural for me. It probably takes a little longer to heal with natural stuff compared to synthetic drugs, but the destination is the same in my opinion.

I'm okay with it taking longer, as long as I can see something happening in a month or so....
needhelp4 - how long have you been sick, and how long have you been treating...and are you feeling better?

You may have posted the information in another post - but I am having trouble remembering who did what and when...so many people doing so many different things.

Please keep me posted as what you intend to do. I am thinking I should do herbals entirely, but am too chicken to go off antibiotics cold turkey! No pun intended...

I have started natural treatment: Started with Japanese Knotwood - 1 cap 3X day for 5 days,
Then I upped the dose to 2 caps 3X day
5 days later, I now have added Cat's Claw: 1 cap 3X day
in 5 days I will up the Cat's Claw to 2 caps 3X day
Then I will add siberian Ginseng.
After that, i will up the Japanese knotwood to 3 caps 3X day
and then the Cat's Claw to 3 caps 3x day.

I am also drinking lots of water with organic lemon juice squeezed in. and doing epsom salt detox baths every evening (after dry brushing first)

I have only recently started this protocol...and results aren't happening yet.

You will see lots of different natural remedies to try - there are a lot of experienced people on this forum. I'm just a newbie...

Hi Girlie, it is important to remember that antibiotics can be derived from natural sources - for example, rifampin is derived from a bacteria in soil, and beta-lactam antibiotics ( amoxicillin, penicillin, ceftin etc ) come from fungus ..

And here is some info about artemisinin:

Artemisinin /ɑrtɨˈmɪsɨnɨn/, also known as Qinghaosu (Chinese: 青蒿素), and its derivatives are a group of drugs that possess the most rapid action of all current drugs against Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Treatments containing an artemisinin derivative (artemisinin-combination therapies, ACTs) are now standard treatment worldwide for P. falciparum malaria. Artemisinin is isolated from the plant Artemisia annua, sweet wormwood, a herb employed in Chinese traditional medicine.

So the answer is definitely YES
