Very Sore Tailbone

This is crazy but my tailbone has been so sore lately. Could that be
from Lyme arthritis or whatever? (I have not had any falls)

Could be. I had a sore tailbone for a good period before I got diagnosed.
I had been seeing a neurologist for shooting nerve pain in my legs, and he couldn't find anything too wrong except for an old disc injury, so I sent me to PT. I thought the exercises might had inflamed my tailbone, but maybe not. I then had similar bone pain migrate thru a lot of other places thru my treatment.

I had severe tailbone pain several years prior to being diagnosed. No idea if it's lyme related but, nothing would surprise me anymore. My tailbone pain lasted roughly 9 months. I could barely make the commute to the job I had at the time. Sitting anywhere was excruciating. I even had an MRI done on the area which, of course, showed nothing wrong. Then, one day, as quickly as it appeared.... it disappeared. I've never understood it.

Wow! I was thinking of posting about my tailbone pain...but thought, it's probably not related to the Lyme...then I saw this posting.

I have had tailbone pain for about two or three months now. Just started all of a sudden.
It hurts most when I've been sitting and I stand up. I haven't mentioned this one to my Doc because it's been low on my list of the worst symptoms.

The more I read, the more I think I must have Lyme disease.

I have not had any falls, either.

I've always wondered if my tailbone pain was a symptom during a time when lyme & company were working their way into my my spine. Cognitive issues showed up after the tailbone pain had resolved. So, I suppose it's possible that was the time period the lyme was getting into cerebral spinal fluid. You might make a note to watch out for worsening cognitive issues.

One other possibility could be a vertebrae out of place. Weak muscles could allow it to go out of place. Just something to consider.

In my case, my tailbone pain didn't feel as though a vertebrae was out of place (like it has in my mid/upper back and neck). Plus, I was seeing a chiropractor at the time who confirmed my tailbone was not out of alignment. Mine was a different kind of tailbone pain.... not made worse or better by stretching, chiro adjustments, or turning/bending a specific way. It was just an ever-present pain, 24/7, for almost a year.

That sounds miserable. So it's gone now? I hope so.

Yes, it's gone now. Replaced by new and equally as disabling lyme symptoms.

:((.... Sorry to hear... I had tailbone pain before I had Lyme. Couldn't sit longer than 15 min. A few chiropractor visits plus Pilates got rid of it.

I do get some slight pain there now. It feels like it could return any day. But I do feel a lot of it is probably from the lack of exercise and weak muscles with a bit of Lyme involvement.

I think initially it was from getting out of alignment from pregnancies and delivery. I had 2 babies 13 months apart, so my body didn't get a chance to completely heal from the first baby, especially after having a forcep delivery and it feeling like my body was being torn apart. I think my hip bones were really stretched out and ended up getting misaligned.

Thanks so much for all your replies. I agree that the tailbone
pain might be from sitting too long, not enough exercise, arthritis, and LD. It just throbs and aches but now today it is gone!!
It will probably rear its ugly head again soon. Or not....

And now that I think of it all some times my bones hurt too. Just the ends--how weird is that. But it is similar to the tb pain altho that is stronger and way more achey....

I know this is an old post, but interesting. I've not really connected my tailbone pain with Lyme/Bart til now.

It wasn't until a year or so after a cat bite that sent me to the ER that I started getting really sharp tailbone pain. It was the worst when I was sitting on a bar type chair and was super sharp when I would get up. It went away prior to my Lyme diagnosis. But, it is now back after about 8 months.

Thinking it's bartonella related.

I think it was lyme treatment because I did lyme only from July, 14 to Sept, 15. Then I started bart treatment after.

I'm pretty sure it was gone by the fall of 2015. I should check my notes.

Interesting. I may have been harboring a Lyme infection for a very long time, and the cat bite reactivated it. I did get the bulls eye rash in 2016, which Dr J is lead to believe is indication of past exposure. Hopefully, someday, there will be a much better understanding on Borrelia and the co-infections
