back again with another question.
Hearing issues.
So, my son (4) has been on abx now for 15 weeks (amoxicillin and azithromycin).
He's doing well, and seems to be tolerating them well.
Here's the thing: lately (I don't know how long, but I've noticed it the past few weeks or more?) he says quite a bit "what'd you say?"
asking a person to repeat themselves.
He doesn't do it always, and not even half the time, but still enough that I've taken note.
It's definitely said more when something that was said trailed off, or maybe was softer, or not as clear; but sometimes he says it when it seems like he should have heard the person.
I think it's new? I don't think he said that much before lyme.
I asked him tonight if he could hear good, and first he said yes, but then he said no, not always good.
Hmm. I have read that some hearing loss (God-forbid total or permanent) can happen with lyme, but I've also read somewhere that sometimes abx can cause some hearing loss. That seems like it would be rare though. And, I don't think the ones he's on were on the list I saw. Lord, I hope not.
It's hard to know for sure what it's like for him. I mean, is it a volume thing, or an understanding thing. I'll ask him more tomorrow.
Anyone experience this? I have wondered if it was an auditory processing thing. But then why would it be sometimes and not others if so?
thanks for any thoughts.
