just curious why that happens to the brain

llmd told me it was from brain fog, but years later, the fog has not lifted yet

and i am tired of not being able to read, and go back to school, etc

Yes, I had to relearn some vocabulary after I got meningitis from Lyme at age 8. I am fine now. I am actually very fine as far as reading.

W.B.S. - Two years ago was when my issue with not being able to read properly nor see the letters properly, happened. It was scary as heck. I have noticed / been monitoring that when the Lyme /coinfections are more active in the brain, I cannot read anything. The letters all smoosh together and cannot see any words properly. Then because I am trying to focus so hard to decipher the ball of smooshed letters, I end up having so much pressure in my head and I feel exhausted. It is not worth it for me when they are SO ACTIVE. But like we all know, these critters cycle in our bodies and Thankfully I do have days where I CAN read, but I still find that I am having to focus really hard. The days of reading a whole book in a day are over for me. If I do 4 pages on a good day - I am lucky. Hang in there WBS!!

I'm a super avid reader and could do like a 600 page book in a few days. When I first got sick, I would like read the same line over and over. Plus I have trouble concentrating. I haven't really detoxed my brain well, not even sure how to do that. But I can get through a few short chapters a day. I have read about people who couldn't read from lyme and got the ability back.

I was similar to Louise74. I would have trouble concentrating and would read the same line over and over. It was like my eyes were unable to move down the page. Plus I would finally get to the bottom of the page, but forget what had happened by the time I started reading the next one.

Adding the cryptolepis/sida/alchornea tincture to Buhner's bartonella protocol has made the difference for me. Along with 3 drops organic cilantro tincture (which detoxes I presume) three times daily and increasing my vit c/ACV/lemon water intake.

CSA has made a big difference to our daughter's cognitive/executive abilities as well, so I am assuming we are probably dealing with the same type of infection, perhaps protozoan.

I also have problems with reading--then to redo it again and again just to understand it. Then a short time later I might not remember what I read and have a hard time getting part of it back. I hate how impatient my dtr and husb get with me. You would think they would be more patient and kind.
I thought that abx would help a lot and maybe with more time
they will. If it helps at all, at least you know that you are not alone in this--that others have made it thru to the other side.

I had a problem in the middle of the disease back in January where I would read something and I would be like what did I just read? Now I can understand and comprehend reading again.

One thing that still gets me though is the darn auto correct on my iPhone. I just keep typing but I miss how it auto corrects on me sometimes then my message gets messed up.

Yes. I was a Ph.D. candidate in English, and to get ready for my exams (it took about six months to get ready), I had to read about a book a day.

I went from that to barely being able to read at all.

Can you imagine?

I do read now, but it's hard for me to make it all the way through a book. I'm hoping I will be able to read Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina," because it looks great, but it's awfully long, and my bad habit is that I keep skipping ahead to see how things are going to turn out. I have a hard time reading from cover to cover.
