Loss of taste

Has anybody experienced loss of taste with Lyme?

Have chronic Lyme from being undiagnosed in 1995. Go in and out or remission. Active for Lyme, anaplasma phag, mycoplasma pneu, EBV. Just got another bout- and suddenly lost my taste. water tastes salty, metal taste most of time,no taste or really bad taste! Thanks for your reply

Can go a long time without sx's, the most has been seven years. Now mostly if I don't eat well, get overtired, and stress brings it on. Take a lot of supplements,but won't do antibiotics. Now mostly cognitive impairment with lots of anxiousness. I think when I upset the biofilm I get the herx

Yes, thank you. I'm not taking Knotweed. I did some Nutrimetrix products with a practitioners that used a bioresonance machine two yrs ago and it really set me off with more neuropsychiatric sx's-lots of anxiety and eventually depression and not supported through it. As you said it rocked my world! had to start an SSRI. Did a Quantum Parasite Formula about a month and half ago and now lots of cognitive issues, word retrieval,short term memory, things that were so simple now take much thought. But the taste issue is really strange.

Before I was diagnosed with Lyme, I had a sinus infection that my internist didn't want to treat with antibiotics, not wanting to overuse them. It continued and I lost my sense of taste and smell. I went to an ENT who prescribed a couple of rounds of very heavy duty antibiotics. Nothing happened. I had a CAT scan (or MRI---can't remember which) of my head and he couldn't find anything. He said I should see an allergist. I had no taste or sense of smell for 7 months. I finally tried the original Mucinex expectorant tablets and the next day I could taste and smell. I have no idea if the cause of loss of taste and smell was Lyme related, but I was having so many weird health things happening that did turn out to be Lyme that I now wonder. Just some information for thought. Good luck. It definitely should be checked by a doctor, though.. if it is not going away.
