Can homeopathic meds cause herxing?

Hi Margaret,

I have been off abx for some time but am still doing grapefruit seed extract. I have had eye pain and headache all day today. I am wondering if this is a herx. Am on the same vitamins etc I always take. I did end up having to take abx later in the day due to pain and it let up for a while then came back.

Eye pain anyone..? Herx.. grapeseed extract ..?

Yes. It's an abx herb. Now, back to homeopathics. Barng. are u European?

Hi Margaret, I did not take the abx when I started herxing. I ended up taking abx later in the day bc I felt yucky.I needed to go to a birthday party and wanted to be able to make it. Headache and eye aches persisted. I did take some aspirin which helped it.

I'm confused. Grapefruit seed extract is an antimicrobial herb, and acts like an antibiotic, so yes, it can cause a herx.

It's not unusual to feel worse at the start of constitutional homeopathy treatments, although when I was so very ill before, I only improved with each remedy since I was so far down with my health problems back then. I didn't even have any reflex response when I first went to him, so I wasn't doing well at all.

From what I understand, a herx is specifically from the toxic effect of the dying bacteria. So, it doesn't really matter if it's the immune system, the drugs, the herbsals, or chicken soup - if it's killing lyme, there's a reaction.

(I have heard that the chemical/biological combination of celery, onion, carrots, and chicken does have an anti microbial effect on the body.)

Cowden protocol gave me the most intense herx I've ever experienced...by far

Yes, Cowden causes a very extreme herx.

That's why I only did Samento, Banderol, Parsley, Pinella, and Burbur. (Plus, a little Houttuynia Tea, as per Traveler).

I started very, very slowly.

Thanks for answering my Twilight Zone post, folks. Get this: It has disappeared and reappeared twice!
