The only comment I can contribute is that in reading two of Buhner's books, I do not recall any side effects listed from his core protocol herbs.

Yes, there are herbs that can mess up your heart, and many other organs when not used properly. What herbs are you thinking of taking or taking that you believe will mess with your heart? The list would be much too long to be listed here, and I don't have that kind of knowledge. If you are concerned about one or two herbs though, we can help look them up if you let us know which ones - although your best bet would be as Marie suggested - find a good herbalist.

Hi teragram,

Houttuynia was really strong for me and it definitely exacerbated my heart symptoms and made them worse.

Also, there was one person using the rhodiola that mentioned that she thought that it had really had an impact on her heart and discontinued it. Some of these herbs are newer to the market so there is less information available on them.

If you can, I might recommend an herbal consult as they might be more knowledgeable- those two are the only that I am aware of.

Yes, that's what I figured, Trav. I'm trying to rule out anything and everything that could be causing my arrhythmias. Currently, I'm using Swedish Bitters (Angelica root, Zedoary root, aloe vera leaf, manna sap, rhubarb, senna leaf, myrrh resin, carline thistle root, camphor wood, Valerian, cinnamon bark, cardamom seed, and saffron flower), aloe vera gel directly from the plant (gel only, not leaf), rhodiola, phosphatidyl, vinpocetine (sometimes), and just started Burbur, Pinella, Parsley, and Samento (the latter only once a week so far). Also some vitamins and homeopathics.

I believe you need to find a herbal practitioner that has been in practice for some time and has a good reputation and go over all of those things with them!! You are taking quite a few herbs in those products.

If you are unsure where to turn, you can see if there are any herbal schools in your area, check with www.americanherbalistsguild.com/ to locate an herbalist or other resource that can be trusted to give good referrals.

Or an LLND. I did find some Integrative MDs in Winston Salem too, and some NDs ($$) in Charlotte. I do think I need to take some Potassium, stat!! since some of those herbs lower your potassium.

Did look at your link; found someone at a place called Swan Creek farms, and another person at East Tenn. State University. Will have to compare distances.

It's weird that I just posted. I can feel things jumping around in my chest. I just took some potassium, to see if that would help. I do think the angelica and the aloe might be aggravating my heart condition.

Scary.

I'm calling the herbalist I found at Swan Creek Farms, which is about 40 minutes from here, I think.

teragram, maybe you got an answer already from the herbalist you were talking about calling, or will get your answer there, but I thought I'd share this info anyway. I know there is a lady who used to have lyme and is now an herbalist. I found out about her on Facebook. She has a website and has contact information for calls and emails.

I hope you can figure out what's causing that for you and that it gets better!

I think we should probably leave what could be causing teragrams heart issues up to the specialist/herbalist kishkish. It is fine to give suggestions but outright saying that it is just the herbs doing their job is absolutely not always the case. Please re-word how you answer concerns accordingly.

The three reports of people you are talking about were also not in treatment for lyme disease and unaware of their condition.
