My 6 years old son now confirmed positive!

He needs to start treatment immediately. Yes, children usually have stronger immune systems and tend to be more successful at recovering from Lyme. No matter what, he needs to be treated in early stage while the Lyme is still in his blood stream and hasn't penetrated his tissue and it can more easily be killed by Doxy. You never want to wait with Lyme. It's all about early treatment. I hope he was tested for coinfections as well.

A friend of mine's son had Lyme disease. He started acting emotional and complained of knee pain. He was tested and started treatment right away. His 3 week treatment with Doxy was successful. This was 2 years ago and is still doing great. Just wanted to share a child's success story.

I would definitely treat it. I believe I have had Lyme since I was a kid, and I'm 35 now. Most of that time, I think my immune system kept the Lyme suppressed pretty well until a couple of years ago, when I had a lot of stress in my life, and the Lyme went wild. Even if your son only exhibits a few obvious symptoms, he may be struggling in ways that you don't see. For years, I wondered if I had asperger's syndrome, as I struggled so much in my interactions with others. Now it seems likely that this was a symptom of Lyme. I can't help but wonder how my life would be different if I had been diagnosed and treated when I was young.

On top of that they can't express what they are feeling that well yet. I think I'm very observing since I'm the one who noticed all the 3 issues he has (food allergy, wheezing/asthma which he is outgrowing, and now this) while my husband thought nothing was wrong, but yes, I don't want to miss anything.

I don't really know when he got infected, so not sure what stage he's in. Just hope that it's not from me. I'm feeling so guilty as it is.

NP. T. said that they usually treated kids for 2 months, then wait and see if there's further symptoms. If there is still some symptom, then more treatment. It seems some of your children treated for a short period (as in Inspiredby3 and Chapelle) while some were long period (as in Agent9er). How do the Dr. decide how long the treatment will be?

Last question, not just for kids, but for us adults as well....how do they know that we are well now? Just by observing the symptoms, or do another IGen test, look at the blood under black field scope, and/or check CD-57? Anyone knows? Oh, on the side note, if we need test to confirm, etc., money is not a problem (not that we are rich, but health is our 1st priority) since I would rather be certain than wondering about it forever.

Well, finally went to see NP T. in person to see our son IGeneX test result. His IFA test is "Equivocal". His Lyme IgM has ++ for 18 & 41, "IND" for 31 & 39 & 83-93. His Lyme IgG "IND" for 31, + for 39 & 58, +++ for 41. Erchiliosis IgG 80, Anaplamosis IgG 40. Meaning or 6-year-old boy has Lyme & co-infection.

He'll start his antibiotic treatment next Monday....Total of 4 antibiotics. Hope all will go well. NP T. said she'll expect him to be in treatment for 18 months.
